Bell Fibe App HDCP error on Apple TV

After the latest Apple4K TV update I have been getting the error message 'this contect requires HDCP for playback'.  It only happens on the Bell Fibe App, and only when I first start the app.  I can hear the audio playing, but no video.  If I hit the back button, and then reselect the channel, everything works fine.  I am using a premium 2.1 Hdmi cable that works flawlessly with all the other apps, everything is up to date, I tried unplugging everything, using different ports, reinstalling the Bell app etc.   As mentioned, I never had this issue before the update and all my settings are correct.480055699_9196531930441763_4830866225698670718_n (1).jpg

Hi @Aptic
Thank you for your post.
Do you have another HDMI cord that you are able to use to test to see if the issue persists?
Have you tried unplugging the HDMI cord and plugging it back in?
Are you using the app directly on your television or are you using a receiver and if so, can you share which model (TV and or receiver model)?
Looking forward to hearing back.

@BellNick  Yes, I tried different cords, yes i have unplugged everything, including the hdmi cord at both connections.  Apple TV plugged directly into the hdmi port on a new Samsung TV.  I have exhausted all options on my end.  When I did a search on other sites, I have found that I am not the first to get this error with the Bell app.  It only happens on the Bell app for me - no other apps.  I can replicate the error if I restart the apple tv and the bell app is the first app i click on.  If I restart the apple tv, and first open say Youtube or Netflix, then go to the bell app, I don't get the error.  Only if the bell app is the first one i click on.

I called tech support, and after a 45 min wait, the rep told me he had never heard of such an error.  He then asked me "If it plugged in"?  And I said what do you mean, the hdmi cable?  He said no, the tv.  Does it get electricity?  Wow, I never would have thought of that.  The tv needs to be plugged into the electrical outlet for it to work.  Seriously, if the tv didn't turn on, how would I be able to read the message on the screen.  What a waste of time.

Have you enabled HDMI-CEC on the TV and Apple-TV 4K?   On my Samsung TV setup menu it's called anynet+(HDMI-CEC). On the Apple-TV it's in the setup menu... [Remotes and Devices] [ Control TVs and Receivers]. I enable these.

This feature allows an HDMI connected device to turn on the TV and switch to that source whenever it is powered on, and turn off the TV when it's powered off.  When I power up my Apple-TV 4K, my Samsung TV turns on, and it's set to antenna input. Then, a second or two later, it automatically switches to HDMI2 ( where the Apple-TV is connected ).

Before I set it up to do this, I periodically saw that HDCP message, but very rarely; maybe a timing issue that HDMI-CEC mitigates?

@Technut   Yes, I did that. The issue is clearly related to the Fibe app, since no others apps are impacted.
