4000 Hub Lan Issue

I have connected 3 ethernet wires to Bell 4000 Hub. 1st (connected to10gig port) and 2nd wire goes directly to the computers, 3rd wire goes to the network switch. Issue I am getting: if more than 1 ethernet cable is connected to the Bell HUB internet download speed drops by 1gbps and the upload speed drops by half, even if there is no internet activity on the other lines. If I disconnect the 2 wires and only 1 wire is connected then I get the max speeds.

I have a 3Gbps plan and I also 10g Lan Card installed on my computer.

I will appreciate the help

Thanks

I noticed you mentioned a switch is attached to one of the 2 LAN ports. You could have a network loop happening.

Try removing just the LAN cable from the home hub that is connected to the switch, and see if you still experience the issue.

The 10 Gig port is capable of linking at 10 Gbps. The other ports link at 1 Gbps. If I understood it correctly, you are getting 1 Gbps from the 1 Gbps ports?

thanks for the reply

but I am getting reduced speeds from a 10gig port. I only get max or close max speed when I remove the other 2 Ethernet cables from 1gig port.

Thanks for the questions. I am not clear about something in your post. How many computers are connected to the Giga Hub; one or two? If one computer has two cables, then you can try to remove the second cable and see if the situation duplicates itself. Don't touch the cable to the switch. The ethernet cable from the 10Gb port on the modem to the computer should also be a Cat 6 or better cable and as short as practically possible, as well.
