Good day all,
Here is my setup:
I have a Bell Hub 4000 with an old Dlink NAS server connected by ethernet port.
I can access my files with my files explorer. But when I try to access the setup page of my NAS, I can't.
I have a fixed IP and it refused to let me in with the IP address in my web browser.....
What to do ???

Sorry for the delay on the update....
So I assigned fixed IP address to both PC and Dlink ( was already the case)
I connected them directly with one ethernet cable and create a manual connection with the IP address.
The computer says it is connected, with the command ifconfig (in terminal.. i'm on Linux), I see the info for the connection.
And with a ping to the IP address, all seems to work perfectly (I got a 0.4ms ping back and forth)
Although, when I try to type the IP address in my browser, I get an error message saying "refused to connect'.
I am now suspecting a fault on the Dlink itself ... 😞
It is an old unit (around 15 yrs old....) and since I can access the files but not the config page, I will transfer my stuff to a new NAS...
Thanks a lot for all your suggestions ZaneP, you where a great help for all this.

Thanks for the update. I agree that the NAS seems to be the issue. It's great that you got so many years service from the Dlink.
Glad I was able to help you.

Just a few questions, to better understand your situation:
- has this setup worked in the past with a different modem, or is this a new setup (HH4K) and it's not working?
- are you trying to connect remotely to the NAS, or locally (on your LAN)?
- assuming it's a local connection, did you reserve the IP address for your NAS via the HH4K dashboard?
- did you see a message when the connection was refused?
- if you have another connected device on the LAN (like a printer), can you see its browser-based page when you connect to it?
Hopefully some solutions will be offered here, from what you tell us.

Here is the setup:
- Yes it was working fine a week ago.... I was with Virgin internet on a fibe connection with the home hub 3000
- I am trying to connect locally using the IP address in my browser ( which is Brave)
- The IP address is reserved in the dashboard of the modem ... It is set as fixed.
- If I type https://192.168.2.13 , I get a connection refused message
- If I type: http://192.168.2.13, the screen is blank and nothing happens
- I have a printer that is connected through wi-fi ans is working fine. The only two other LAN connection are as follow:
1 for my desktop PC (on which i am trying to access the NAS and 1 for my Fire TV Stick 4k
Hope this helps you have a better picture of my overall setup

Just for certainty:
- you can see the embedded web server of your printer, but not the one in the D-Link NAS.
- the issue began after you replaced the HH3K with the HH4K
- nothing has changed on your desktop PC; nothing has changed on the NAS (like a software update)
Have you tried to connect to the NAS server interface from a wifi device like a tablet or phone?
Is there any message id code, or it just says "connection refused"?
I wonder if the NAS is listening on a specific port for web requests, and for some reason that port is not open/blocked by the HH firewall.
Have you rebooted the HH? Might be worth doing.
Have you done a search on your specific D-Link model and this problem?
Hopefully others on the forum will engage on this. Keep us posted.

Ok so to answer your questions:
-Yes I can see my printer on the wifi
-Yes the issue started when IP went from the HH3K to HH4K
-The desktop PC is the same and also the NAS
This site can’t be reached
192.168.2.13 refused to connect.
Try:
- Checking the connection
- Checking the proxy and the firewall

The port-forwarding suggestion makes sense, but fails to solve the problem. For https you'll need to make sure port 443 is open.
IMO adding the NAS to DMZ won't help.
You wrote that the NAS is functioning properly (you can find it on the LAN, and see its files). I know you can print without problems, but can you successfully connect to the embedded user interface on the printer? If you can, then there's an issue on the NAS. If you can't, there's a problem with Brave.
Brave is based on Chromium, and you're seeing a Chrome-type error message. Typically this problem occurs when connecting to a server not hosted locally.
Have you tried using a different browser, to connect to the Ui on the NAS?
There are multiple possible fixes for this error, including clearing the cache files, temporarily suspending any anti-virus software, temporarily turning off the Windows firewall, etc.
You can also try this: undo the reserved address for the NAS and allow the HH to give it an address with DHCP. Then reboot the router. Clear your browser cache. Try to connect.
Have you posted your latest problem-solving results on any of the D-Link forums? That might bring some fresh ideas/solutions?

Thanks a lot for the Help ZaneP !
For your questions:
-I can access the printer from the IP address in Brave. So I guess the issue might be on the NAS.
- If I try to enter directly the IP address like this http://192.168.2.13, I get a blank page
_If I try to enter the same thing on a Firefox session, I get this message:
"The connection to the server was reset while the page was loading."
I don't know why....
I did cleared the cache files, and suspended the anti-virus and firewall.
I should also mention that I am running Linux KDE Neon 21.04
I also tried to undo the reserved address, put it in dynamic mode, rebooted the HH4K. No change.
I also have posted on Dlink for this problem, but until now, no answer on their part....

Make sure that you removed cookies for the D-Link. I assume Brave has instructions for doing this.
Overall it seems to me that if you can connect to the embedded web server on the printer with Brave (and I assume also with Firefox), but you can't connect to the D-Link NAS web server with either browser then there is something off with the NAS.
One way to confirm this is to directly connect the PC and the D-Link, with ethernet.
Follow this suggestion at your own risk.
You'll need to assign a static address to each device. You could do this by using the HH dashboard to reserve an address for each one, since you can't access the D-Link admin page. You need to ensure they are on the same subnet.
Then detach the D-Link and the PC from the HomeHub 4000 and connect them directly with ethernet. You may have to reboot the PC and the D-Link.
If you can connect to the D-Link's web server from your PC then there's some weird issue with the HomeHub 4000. If you can't, then the D-Link is the culprit. I'm 99% sure it is.
I hope you get this sorted out soon. Let us know how you're doing!
