sorry if this question was posted to the wrong forum

I just DLd the bell wifi app.  I do not want to give it permissions to my bluetooth nor wifi because I don't use pods.

Without giving in to the permission requests, how can I use the app?

Thank you

Good Day.

The Bell Wi-Fi app lets you control, manage and monitor your home Wi-Fi network from anywhere at any time.

Location Services is designed to protect your information and enable you to choose what you share. Location Services allows the app to gather and use information based on the current location to provide a variety of location-based services.

  • Manage your Wi-Fi network name and password
  • Share your Wi-Fi network with guests
  • See all the devices connected to your network
  • Check Wi-Fi signal strength throughout your network
  • Manage parental controls, such as temporarily blocking Internet access or setting recurring access schedules
  • Run speed tests on your device
  • Install Whole Home Wi-Fi pod

Take care

Good Day.

I am not quite sure I fully understand your question. If you do not want to use the app with your Wi-Fi network, what do you wish to use it with? The app is not solely used to manage & control Wi-Fi pods. Just because you do not have Bell Wi-Fi pods should not preclude you from taking advantage of the many other benefits associated with the Wi-Fi app.

The Bell Wi-Fi app lets you control, manage and monitor your home Wi-Fi network from anywhere at any time. The Bell Wi-Fi app is a free application made to all customers with a Home Hub 2000, Home Hub 3000 or Home Hub 4000 modems.

Features include:

  • Manage your Wi-Fi network name and password
  • Share your Wi-Fi network with guests
  • See all the devices connected to your network
  • Check Wi-Fi signal strength throughout your network
  • Manage parental controls, such as temporarily blocking Internet access or setting recurring access schedules
  • Run speed tests on your device
  • Install Whole Home Wi-Fi pods

In order to install the app, on a mobile device, you will need to follow the installation instructions & prompts. If you wish to turn off the Wi-Fi on your device after the app installation, you can do so. It is somewhat unclear to me why you would choose to do so.

Please check out the following web link that I have provided below.

What is the Bell Wi-Fi app and how do I use it? : What is the Bell Wi-Fi app?

If you have any further questions, do not hesitate to reach out once again.

Take care.

Thank you for your answer.  Here is what I saw on my phone when I submitted my question.

Location permission needed
To be able to use Bluetooth and scan for pods to use over Wi-Fi, please allow location permission on app permissions setting screen.

The corollary to this sentence is: If you don't want to use Bluetooth and scan for pods to use over Wi-Fi then you don't need to give the requested permissions; so I denied the requests.

I remember that when I first started the app, I received one request for BT permissions and a separate request for Wi-Fi permissions.  I denied both requests.  Only after did I receive the message I reproduced above.

I uninstalled and reinstalled the app.  This time I rejected only the request for BT permissions and accepted the request for wifi permissions and the app runs ok.

But why does the app need to know my location?  It detects my router and I must enter the router password so why does it want access to my location?  seems suspicious to me.
