Can I hardwire my internet connection with an ethernet cable using powerline adapter?

The Bell Modem is in the living room and my desktop is in another room in the house. I can not run an ethernet cable from one room to another. So if I ran an ethernet cable from a powerline adapter to a switch as an access point then connect and run a ethernet  cable to my desktop, would this work?

You can try it but Bell can’t support it. I have tried every variety of connection including power line over Ethernet and various WAP devices with no luck. I went to the pods for the best solution.

powerline sends radio signals between 2 (or more) adapters over electrical cables, so, performance depends on a whole bunch of factors. Don't plug the powerline adapters in to surge protectors because they filter out the very radio signals you are trying to use. In my experience, they don't work very well - they might work ok, but there will be times when it doesn't. Even running an ethernet cable along baseboards is better. Cable is pretty inexpensive. Don't be afraid to run it outside... Another idea, running ethernet part of the way, somewhere closer to your room and adding a 2nd wifi point would probably be better than powerline.

The Bell pods are a good option in this situation. You can run an Ethernet cable to the pod and run wireless from there or plug a 1Gb unmanaged switch into the pod and give a better signal to devices. In this case, a Cat6 or higher Ethernet cable will give best results. The pods manage all devices automatically. I have also found that power line over Ethernet does not work well on house circuits on different circuit breakers, either. It also does not work well on older wiring.

Similar issue. 

2 bedrooms with living room beside my room and other bedroom on opposite side of home. Modem is in LR.

Bell tech originally provided 2x plc adapters so that I could connect my pc via ethernet to the plc adapter in my room (he was too lazy to drill holes and fix the other LAN port/jack, so he provided 2x plc adapters to bring an ethernet connection into my room). I've also tried using this same plc adapter in other bedroom and it worked perfectly fine. Approx 20 feet distance from modem.

Minimum needed: 2 (or 1 pair of 2).

1 to plug ur modem into and the other to plug into whichever room u want ethernet connection.

They work similar to wifi pods, except they are for ethernet cables. Technically an ethernet pod or ethernet adapter/extension. Also could be possible to split this connection with a spliter if u need 2 ethernet connections in 1 area. Yet to try.

Buy 2x powerline adapters that u can return without shipping fee n test it out.
