Fibe 3.0 to PlayStation 5

I recently upgraded to Fibe 3.0 from regular Fibe. I have the new Bell Giga Hub modem and it is hardwired from the 10 GB port of the modem to my PS5 via a CAT8, 6 foot Ethernet cable. I can only manage to get around 900 mbps max download and about 20 mbps upload on the PS5. This is only a very small increase over the regular Fibe. I’ve done a speed test on the modem and it shows 3 gbps download and upload speeds to the modem but speed tests on the PS5 are only about 1/3 of this. Shouldn’t I be getting at least close to the 3 gbps speeds?

Hi @Steve_D

Your PS5 network card supports up to 1000BASE-T, so it has a maximum 1Gb d/l rate. Unfortunately you will not get the speed you're hoping for. But 900Mb is a solid transfer rate.

Hope this helps.

Cheers,

That is probably the maximum you are going to get with PS5. Upload & download speeds is a combination of everything on your network accessing data. Remember what defines & measures speed: Device capabilities, what is uploading, downloading, at the same time, etc. You could probably run two PS5s and your speed would probably remain relatively the same. Hardware limitations dictate what you can or can not do!
