CraigE

Hello,

I am trying to access the administrator on the giga hub.

I receive the following message.

"Invalid password. Your default password is the serial number (S/N) located on the back of your modem."

I have tried the following passwords.

Admin / admin

S/N:

ONT S/N:

Wi-Fi password

Please provide any additional suggestions.

On the back of the Giga Hub modem,  you sill see a Sagemcom white sticker. On the right side, top of this sticker, there are 3 rows of number.

The top row is the serial number (S/NM). The serial number starts with & includes: DM

It is approximately 15 characters in length. DM & 13 additional digits.

Take care.

Your modem password for your first access is the exact serial following S/N on the back of the modem. All letters are upper case. You can change it in the settings.

You could try a modem reset, that should set everything to default. Giga hub factory reset

This will remove any custom settings if you had any made, so be sure to take note of any custom settings you made.

After that you could try the above again.

I had this happen with 2 replacement modems. In my case the default was admin, not the sticker at the back.

Are you filling in a username? I can't remember 100%, but for some reason I think it was a blank username and admin as password.

Thanks for your responses

As previously stated I have tried all four of the following.
  • Admin / admin
  • S/N:
  • ONT S/N:
  • Wi-Fi password

The administrator login is via the modem login button on the management GUI or via "advanced tools and settings"

In either case I am not presented with a "username" prompt only password.

I do hate factory reset.

I have done the factory reset and administrator access was allowed via the main serial number of the Giga hub.

I had to setup contact information and a new password.

Thank you.

Unfortunately there's no way to backup your settings. I think it's something they should be looking at, maybe the next version of the hub will have settings backup options.

At least you have it figured out and you are "in".

I just used a file manager from my Android phone to connect Giga Hub. Turns out we have to leave the username blank, your password and as "anonymous".user. Just able to log in. I'm going to connect my USB drive with the modem to access my music/video/photos with all my devices in my home.

Thinking of what you want to do and to help you avoid potentially avoidable issues in connecting your access to files through the Giga Hub, you might review the posts in this thread https://forum.bell.ca/t5/Internet/How-to-access-mynetwork-USB-storage-on-Bell-Home-Hub-4000-from/td-... to see the experience of other users. how do I sign on as administrator on my laptop to check my modem

I am assuming you want to log into your modem as administrator. What is the model #?

Common way for 3000 and 4000 models is: modem log in

NOTE: Your modem is only accessible if you’re currently on your home network. If prompted, enter the administrator password. Unless you have changed it, the default password is "admin".

You can also look here for an alternative method.

Good Day.

In order to access your modem, your laptop must be connected to your home internet. ie. ethernet or wireless.

The administrator password is required when accessing your modem's settings. In the modem settings you can view devices that are connected, and change the Wi-Fi name and password. By default, the password is either the serial number located on the sticker on the back of the modem or “admin”, depending on your modem, but you can set your own.

To set or change the administrator password:

  1. Open a web browser.
  2. Open your web browser and visit bell.ca/mymodem or 192.168.2.1.
  3. Select > Modem login on the top right corner of the page. Enter your password. Select > Login button.
  4.  If prompted, enter the administrator password. (Home Hub 2000, 3000, 4000, Giga Hub). The default password is the serial number located on the sticker on the back of the modem. If you have forgotten your administrative password, a factory reset will be required.
  5. Click on Modem preferences. For the Connection Hub, click on Account settings from the left menu
  6. Follow the steps. Click Save to confirm the changes.

Important: Resetting the modem will erase all personalized settings.

Take care.
