Hi, I’m new here so please excuse my naiveity. I’m curious as to why I cannot change the modem preferences on the Bell Gigahub on my iPhone using desktop mode. Every time I try it asks me for my current password and then it wants me to choose a new one even though all I want to do is just check/alter the 2.4Ghz band so I can add a device to my network. Is there no way to alter/view the settings without having to change my password? Thanks to all who respond.

Good Day.
You can only access your modem settings from within your home. There are two methods for accessing your modem settings. Logging in with a web browser is by far the easiest method of accessing your modem.
1. Web browser access
- Open your web browser and visit bell.ca/mymodem or 192.168.2.1.
- Enter the Administrator password. The default password is the serial number located on the sticker on the back of the modem.
2. MyBell App
You can also access your modem using the MyBell app. Select > Support. Select > Internet. Select > Equipment. Select > Articles - How to access my Bell Home Hub. Select > All other modems. Select > Access Your Home Hub. Select > Open web the link. Select > Modem login. Enter > Administrator Password.

The last option is to do a full or hard reset, not a reboot, of the Giga Hub. It will also remove any customizations you have and force you to use the default password to log in.

Thank you for your question.. You can do the same thing with the WiFi app. It uses the same passwords as MyBell.

None of these answers address my question/problem. I have tried signing into the modem but it continually asks for the old password and it also says I have to change it to a new one. I did and it still would not open the settings/preferences option after I filled in the required fields.

None of the options offered stops the modem from continuously asking for the password and to change the password and once I have done this the modem preferences tab, once pressed STILL opens the tab for changing the passwords. It’s as if the modem has locked me out of the modem preferences option and is in a constant loop.

Good Day.
Did you by chance have a look at the web links I provided earlier? If not, then should do so. You can do a Factory reset. Keep in mind all of your personal changes & setting will be lost. All of the setting will revert back to their original settings at the time the modem was installed. E.g. default password, etc.

Yes I did click the links provided but they are of no use for my situation. As for a hard reset, I just had Bell here to reconnect my video and doorbell cameras because I changed my SSID name and it kicked those items off my Wi-Fi network and I don’t want to have to go through another service call having to be at home and wait around until a Bell service technician decides to show up.

Are you using the guest network by any chance?

You don’t need a service call to do a hard reset. Just take photos or print screen of your settings before the hard reset. Restore afterward and change the password. I am also unaware of an iPhone desktop mode other than using a url in Safari on an iPhone. It works, but is more limited than using a browser in a PC or a Mac.

Desktop mode will show web pages the way you see them on a desktop. Some sites are optimized for both desktop and mobile views. With desktop mode you force the desktop version to be displayed rather than the optimized mobile version.
I don't think it has anything to do with this, but I am thinking if you use the guest network you cannot log into the modem page, for security reasons. could be wrong, I don't have one to test it out.
