Home Hub 4000 and FTP

Novice here... since converting to Bell FIBRE w/ Home Hub 4000, we can no longer access the FTP for website maintenance.  Firewall has been turned of and (Cyberduck & FileZilla) FTP has been given portal parameters set up between 0 and 5000... still can not access using Bell Fibre to make changes to website.  As a side note:  using our previous provider Rogers with the same hardware set up (except Bell Fibre Home Hub 4000), we could access our website for maintenance with no issues at all.  Can anyone offer instructions that a novice could apply to check/correct?

Hi @GET

I haven't used FTP client/server in a long time, so I may not be much help. But I have some questions/comments:

  • Which firewall been turned off? The client-side (your PC or Mac)?
  • Do you have the same connection error message with Cyberduck and FileZilla?
  • What do you mean by "FTP has been given portal parameters..." Do you mean port settings?
  • Maybe your Bell connection is having problems with FTP TLS (Transport Layer Security), unlike your previous provider.
  • Is there anyone on the server side who can look at the connections log and see what's happening when you try to connect?

Hi @ZaneP, Thank you for your help.  Just recently our host provider uploaded a new certificate to the site.  This was recognized as being safe - hence our FTP now works.

Hey there @GET,
Welcome to the Bell Community, and thanks for posting.
Interesting, perhaps another community member has had a similar experience.
Can you share what happens when you try to access the FTP, are you getting a specific error message?

Do you get answers for this issues ? We have same problems with some compagny who need to transfert documents to us via ftp. They are all Bell fibe customers.

Hello BellPatricia... when using CyberDuck the following responses happens after entering correct username, etc.

Bottom left denotes "Listing Directory", then a screen appears noting:
"Unsecured FTP connection:  The server supports encrypted connections, Do you want to switch to FTP-SSL?  Please contact your web hosting service for assistance:  ---Continue or ---> Change".

While this screen displays the bottom left prompt on changes to "FTP Connection Open".

From here I can only select continue or change.... when selecting either one of these options, bottom left prompt denotes "Listing Directory" again.... then responds "Connection Failed"

Any help is appreciated please?
