Hello,
I have an upcoming second attempt to install fibe to my home since the original attempt was blocked by an unfriendly neighbour as the utility pole is on their property. Is there anyway to have fibe installed from another pole? I am in Toronto and just learned about easements and not sure if there is one for that pole.
The pole is also covered by a tree that is leaning onto the other property on the opposite side of the pole. The tech said the tree would have to be trimmed to work on this side. I would prefer not to trim the tree and disturb the other two neighbours/property owners.
I heard from comments online a bucket truck can be used to do this install? There is a street entrance for the backyard. I am not sure if the truck can extend that far.
Thank you,
I'd rather not go with Rogers....

Hi @NewInstall
The installer who encountered the unfriendly neighbour has most definitely reported the problem to their supervisor. It may be deemed a health and safety issue and it's uncertain if Bell will make another attempt to use that aerial.
They have done the site survey, and will know what access options are available.
Bell is entirely responsible for installations, either aerial (in your case) or buried. You won't be involved unless, for example, the only other access would another pole but has an obstruction for which you are responsible (it's your tree). On the next attempt at installation, Bell should be telling you their plan.
We went through a similar experience. The aerial installation was abandoned in favour of a nearby underground access point which still had spare capacity.
Hope it works out for you!

Depending on where you live, the top of the underground vault for fibre distribution could look this. It's on a residential street, beside a sidewalk.

I'm going to cross my fingers and hope for the best. Where would be an underground access point? I live on a major street and see nothing but cement....

Hmm, I don't think I've seen anything like this around my entire neighbourhood. I hope the next tech will figure out something. I can't do much with unfriendly neighbours. The neighbour with the pole stole from my next door neighbour when it was a bakery. The bakery turned apartment neighbour is now occupied by an owner that has territorial dogs (bark at everyone) and occasionaly tosses their garbage onto my property.
What would be the nuclear option to get this done if the next tech fails?
