New Webmail - Format and Feature Issues

I am trying to get used to the new email format. I love some of the changes but am having difficulty with others.

When I click on the square box next to the subject line when I first open my email link it now automatically opens to the email. In the past, I could click on the square box for several emails(they wouldn't automatically open again) and I could move them all at once to a select file folder. Now I have to move each one individually which is very time consuming. Is there a step I am missing or is this just the new way and if it is can this be addressed in an update?

I also find the font size smaller than before. I am not sure if it is because of the font size or if the colour was changed on the font but it is now hard to differentiate between unopened emails and opened emails. Is there some way I can change the colour of the font and the size? I have looked into my email settings as well as my browser settings but I couldn't see anything.

Would love any help anyone can give! Thank You

I am on Windows 10.  Interesting that you can use Thunderbird.  I used to use it, but I can't for Bell webmail.  Every time I try, it gives me this when it tries to connect to Bell:

"The current operation on 'inbox' did not succeed.  The mail server for account xxxxxxxxx@bell.net  responded: Invalid attribute list in UID FETCH"

I have no idea what that means, so I don't know how to fix it, but obviously there is an incompatibility between the Bell mail server and Thunderbird.  All I know is that one day it worked, and the next day it didn't (and hasn't since).

Do you (anyone else) know what the issue is?  I would much rather use Thunderbird than struggle with the mess Bell has made of their so-called upgrade.

Thanks

Hi John_G, a long time ago I had set up Thunderbird to work with my bell.net account, but then it just stopped working. I mostly using my sympatico.ca account so I just left it as is. Your response sparked me to take another look to see if I could get both sympatico.ca & bell.net accounts to work with Thunderbird. I don't have any fancy filters or anything set up on my mail accounts, so if the following doesn't work for you then maybe that's something to look into.

Incoming server setting for both sympatico.ca & bell.net accounts is the same pophm.sympatico.ca server.

Thunderbird's password manager is used to store both accounts' passwords.

Both accounts share the same outgoing email server setting but each has its own identity:

Hope that helps.

Hi PENNY, go to Contacts then from the hamburger button (3 horizontal lines) pick Collected Addresses. You’ll find there are a lot of spam email addresses in there that you can delete.

Have a problem with some Emails.   I see them in my inbox but when I click to read content I get an error message saying wait until loaded completely.   Then it just spins.   Oddly the emails I have an issue with are all from health care providers.   Not the same health care place.    Tried contacting Bell...but...nothing

I use EDGE and have Bell high speed and use sympatico email ID.....I can open and see other emails.

Have you tested on another browser (e.g. Chrome, Safari or FireFox) to confirm if the spinning behavior is replicated?

Mr. Rock

Almost everything about the revised BELL mail is a  pain. When you start replying to a message , the new line curser goes about 5 lines down the page and you can only recover 2 of them. Next when finished the fIrst line of your reply  - up pops the address line of the received email. What the H---? Now you must click that line down the page and out of the way. And try retrieving an attachment to a previously sent message that has a response. The attachment is no longer there. I could go on and on but why bother. The great BELL did it , screwed it up and users are trying to get other users to assist in working through and around the new format.

I would like to compose my sympatico email in Rich Text Format so that I can do bold, underline, etc.  But when I hit the Carriage Return, it automatically adds some spacing between the lines.

For example:  I want my name and address on separate lines and I don't want to see spacing between my  name and address.  I had to use Plain Text Format to accomplish that, but then I lost the ability to bold, underline, etc in my email.

Is there a solution for this?  Should I use Outlook to access my Bell email instead?  If so, how do I setup Outlook to access my Bell email?

Thank you!

Have a nice day!

In the sympatico webmail, is it possible to Preview my email before I hit the Send button?

Thank you!

I have not been using Bell Webmail for quite some time now, as did not like the interface and features previous to this new upgrade.  A couple of weeks ago and just the past 15 minutes I have now done a more thorough look over of the upgrade and I like what I see. I feel it will work for me.

The Microsoft 365 Subscription (Outlook) part of it has been a real pain in the butt for me for the past two years now with emails disappearing. Every time that I try to get their tech support to try to rectify things.  They just make the problems worse than what it was, to begin with.  I have spoken to dozens of other people who are having the very same problem with Microsoft Subscriptions and/or just using Outlook standalone and many are leaving it period; showing a preference for sticking with webmail. Webmail is proving to be the best way to go.

The question I have to ask about webmail messages: can you save a mail message into a document folder on a device (laptop) or external drive?

My next payment of Microsoft subscription is due in 2 days... I am calling them tomorrow morning when their office open and speaking to them LIVE and cancelling the subscription service. I am coming back to Bell webmail.

Before I close this topic...  since I am coming back to Bell Webmail: can I create a Bell Webmail shortcut on my desktop or in the tasktray of laptop. Taking into my chronic illness - memory, would make the webmail much more accessible to me 🙂

I will make another post with reference to Bell mail/webmail to keep topics separate.

Thank you everyone for your great support. Charmaine Jensen

Hi there @charmainejensen. Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Bell Community 🙂

If you are using the Google Chrome browser you can create a short cut by clicking the 3 dots on the top right, select More tools, and then Create shortcut. It can be different depending on the browser you are using.

You can easily download an email to your desktop. Simply double click on the message you wish to download, click the down arrow on the right hand side, and then select Save as EML file.

Let the Community know if you need anything else.

Hi Patricia

I am getting the same issue and it's beyond frustrating. My boss sends me emails from gmail and also forwards things from other source and he got an Gmail block message today and I am also not getting some of my messages. It seems perhaps bell put in some serious spam filters, which is a good thing but it's weeding out tons of our own emails that we do need and this is not good. A few people have contacted me and said 'did you get my email' and I haven't. there is nothing in the spam/junk folder also. Can you please assist? Thanks!

This thing just never gets better. Now I tried to simply edit a contact page by adding a new line of information. The cursor jumps all over the page and lines are spaced where they shouldn't have been spaced. The previous format was sooo much simpler to navigate. Have you fired the guys that mistakenly thought this "update " would be helpful? I guess there is no going back at this stage. Plus always having to make adjustments to line spaces on new messages that run into the previous address. And why can't we start a new message at the very top of the page and why does the font change when you click down on a new message? Mr. Rock. This is just too much to have to deal with on a daily basis. I would never recommend BELL mail to anyone now. Try going back to ROGERS.

Thanks for listening.

I stopped receiving emails to my iPhone and iPad as of Sunday, I’ve reported it to bell on Monday, still waiting on a resolution.

internet and wifi are fine, seems the new platform for webmail is the issue, I would appreciate having this resolved asap.
