Thank you for your question. 5G availability depends on many factors including your phone (is it 5G capable?) and distance to the cell site. Because of the nature of the 5G signal, it does not travel as far and can more affected by local interference such as buildings. That causes the cell phone to switch to LTE and then 4G signals. You can set your phone to 5G Auto, which handles the switch automatically or LTE only. It's probably not helpful to force your phone to use 5G only or in the Apple ecosystem, 5G Standalone, as you may experience more signal loss. As Bell itself says, "Speed, performance and whether a 5G/5G+ device uses the available 5G/5G+ network depend on various factors including: your rate plan, topography, environmental conditions, the current serving radio conditions at your location and whether the device is actively downloading or uploading data." And, "Speed and signal strength may vary due to traffic, topography, environmental conditions and other factors, including Bell’s Internet traffic management practices (e.g., priority access to emergency personnel and critical infrastructure personnel)."

You can see Bell's coverage map here. https://www.bell.ca/Mobility/Our_network_coverage

You will see as you zoom in there are areas where there are gaps.

Thanks for your question.

Yes, my phone is 5G capable, and is set to use 5G when available.

It rarely switched to 4G when I was with Rogers, but now mainly only shows 4G since I've been with Bell.

I've seen the coverage map, and I haven't left the area for some time.

I often get a weak GPS signal, even when standing in the middle of a soccer field since switching to Bell.

As I said, there can be a variety of causes. You can look at a cellular tower located map to determine your physical proximity to various provider’s towers. That may give you a better answer. As in real estate, cell signals are very dependent on “location, location, location” and always have been. 5G signals are also weaker than LTE and 4G as they don’t travel as far from the tower.

Hello, i have unlimited data plan 120gb. I am having trouble with 5G/LTE speed that is not more than 200kbps. I have also another line facing same problem. I called a few times customer support but they cant solve my problem. I switched to physical sim and it didnt work. I tried  different phone, i tried reset network settings and no success.

Btw, i didnt exceed my data limit. Customer sopport cant solve this problem.

You don’t indicate your location or cell phone brand, but slow data speeds are usually the result of distance from the cell tower, crowded cell site or other interference.

I live in winnipeg and i have iphone 16 pro.  I have tested speed multiple locations in city and it was no more than 250kbps. Also i have another line that is same. I tried different phones, switched from esim to physical sim. Other bell users were in same location with me dont have any speed issue. I know cell tower etc things, it shouldnt continue for 4 days. I think bell is throttling my speed. They cant find the problem, support ticket is still open.
