High Ping in Burnaby area

I'm using the 5G mobility package with 50GB per month and mainly purchase it expecting staple Ping for gaming purposes using the USB mobile hotspot. However, I notice that these 2 months in my ping always hover at 70~80+ ms, making it very laggy for MOBA and the past week it just shot up to 100~200 ms rendering it impossible to play. I wonder if there is anything I can do to fix this.

Thank you for your question. The bad news is that trying to use a cell phone or wireless connection for gaming will always be slower and have higher ping than a wired connection. The good news is there are a few things you can try to reduce your ping.

  1. Improve your cell reception. Get as close as you can to a cell tower. Don't climb it, though.
  2. Switch your local hotspot to the 5 GHz Wi-Fi frequency band.
  3. Turn off battery saving mode on your phone.
  4. Stay close to the hotspot.
  5. Eliminate Wi-Fi obstructions and interference.
  6. Make sure you're not out of data.
  7. Update everything.
  8. Restart everything.

Recognize that you will never, ever achieve the low ping of anyone on a wired connection. I hope that is of some help.
