Thank you for your question. Unfortunately spam calls are a game of whack-a-mole. Because phone spammers are a step or two ahead, it is very difficult to stop all spam calls. Bell uses several technologies, including Suspicious Call Detection to reduce spam calls.

I have several personal strategies I use. I do not answer calls from numbers I don't know. I put my phone on vibrate. I let numbers which I do not know go to voicemail. Your situation may not allow that, as everyone is different, but you can try options.

I recently moved from Telus to Bell.   I did this because Telus has no service where I am located.  I got bell as they stated 5G, good services.

However, No 5G.  Its simply not available where I am.  So I dont want to buy a service promised me, that doesn't exist.  Next, I have only had the new phone number about 1 month, and the majority of the calls are scam calls.   Direct from Bell.  (Bell wants me to pay my bills I have already paid).  So serious issue there.  Scam calls from Bell, Telus, Visa mastercard (<- that always makes me laugh) royal bank, etc.

Of the 27 calls I have received, only one was real.

Any suggestions ?

How come I can't turn on the incoming international call blocking on my Galaxy S23? I get bombarded daily by international spam calls. I continually have to block new numbers daily. They don't ring my phone when blocked, they go straight to voicemail. This forces me to delete scam messages that if let unchecked, would full up my voicemail. The feature is already on the phone, so that means that it's being restricted by Bell.

Good Day & Welcome.

Thank you for posting your question.

Bell uses several technologies, including Suspicious Call Detection to reduce spam calls. There is no one quick fix that is going to eliminate Spam calls.

Bell is not restricting the use of your Call Blocking feature on your Samsung Galaxy S23.

Suspicious call detection uses AI analytics to monitor incoming calls in real time, and it alerts you about potential spam or fraud, allowing you to decide whether to answer incoming calls by labelling the suspicious ones.  It is automatically available for all Bell Mobility customers at no extra charge and cannot be turned off.

While the feature only identifies potential spam or fraud, you have the open to block specific phone numbers directly through the call settings on your device.

When you receive a call from a suspicious and unknown number, your device will display a warning label to help you decide whether to answer:

  • Likely Fraud – calls deemed highly suspicious and fraudulent
  • Possible Spam – calls that appear suspicious but are more likely to be categorized as unsolicited

Note: Exercise caution when answering calls with these labels.

Newer Android devices, E.g. Samsung Galaxy S23, typically provide a similar spam protection feature. If your Android device's spam protection is on, it may override Bell's Suspicious call detection feature. To ensure you receive our service, follow below to turn off Android's feature:

  1. Open the Phone app on your Android device.
  2. Tap More options (three vertical dots) > Settings.
  3. Toggle off Caller ID and Spam protection.

Take care.

I receive dozens of calls from spam callers, why can’t Bell attach a message with pressing a # to stop the spam? Telus has it.

I came to ask similar. I just started with BELL. When with TELUS I activated the feature that required a "non-favoured" contact to have to follow directions such as "Press 5" to be connected. That feature was such a blessing, surely BELL has similar!

Me too I have been receiving multiple spam calls from a Telus outsourced call centre. I want these permanently blocked and I want to  see Telus fined for harassment . I don’t understand how Bell cannot prevent these from happening and ever since I put my name on a do not call list years ago. It became worse. It’s almost like they started giving out our numbers more frequently.
