(No) Coverage in Galahad, Alberta

The map states 5G coverage in reality unless you are closer than in site of the health centre you will not have any Bell mobility services in the townsite.

Within a half a block service goes from 5G with several bars to pure SOS with no services at all.

I hear a competitor services might be time for a switch in provider after nearly two decades of loyalty.

Hi there @Teddy13 ,

Welcome to the community and thanks for your post.

For the Community to be better able to assist you, could you please provide further details as to the issues you're experiencing?

Do keep in mind that many factors can limit signal strength; topography, environmental conditions, line of sight to towers, types of buildings in your area, etc.

  • Do you know of anyone else in the area having similar issues?
  • Have you tried changing the network settings in your phone? Sometimes preventing your phone from searching for 5G can free up resources to focus on LTE instead.
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
  • Have you gotten in touch with our technical support team to open a ticket?

We'd also recommend checking out our How To article on Troubleshooting data connectivity on your Bell Mobility phoneOpens in a new tab or windowand Troubleshooting voice calls on your Bell Mobility phoneOpens in a new tab or window

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

Town is flat prairie countryside town and is consistent throughout townsite except where you can touch the health centre building.  I have parked in sight of it and still not had cell service.

Phone is a reasonably newer mode iPhone that is working fine when not in this particular townsite.

Also Issue is common with all Bell subscribers in this area

Thank you for your question. A quick search of my my favourite cell tower map shows that there are no Telus cell towers in Galahad. In fact there are no cell towers at all in Galahad. If you see a cellular tower at the hospital, you might ask the hospital who owns the tower. It could be unrelated to cell service and be a radio tower for emergency services such as police, fire and ambulance or even the railway, although they like to put towers on their own property and rights of way. Emergency services often use hospitals for their radio towers, for many reasons.

I understand Telus and Bell have a reciprocal agreement for cell towers across Canada. Telis shares with Bell on their towers in the west and Bell shares their towers with Telus in the east.

The nearest Telus cell towers to Galahad are on Highway 855 north of 53, west of Forestburg and several sections east of Galahad, east of Highway 36.

Some of the ideas in @BellAntgio post are also worth checking out to see if your signal improves.

I just looked at Galahad on Google Street View. You can see an antenna on the Galahad Care Centre. It is definitely a radio tower, possibly ambulance services.
