Hi there, @Curlingguy. Welcome to the Bell Community, and thanks for your post.

Adding a SIM PIN is most commonly done from the security settings in your phone, with the default having it turned off and set to 1234 or 1111. Do bear in mind that entering the PIN incorrectly 3 times will lock the PIN. The phone will only be able to make emergency calls. If entered incorrectly 10 times, the SIM card locks permanently and you will need to buy a new SIM.

Check out these links below for setting up a SIM PIN with particular phone manufacturers:

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

The SIM card on your mobile phone will become locked if you enter an incorrect personal identification number (PIN) three times. If you are unsure of what to do next, & you enter the wrong PIN, you won't be able to use your phone, except for emergency calls. For further assistance I would call Bell or visit a Bell store.

To unlock it you must reset your PIN by entering your SIM card's unique unlock key (also called a PIN unblocking key or PUK). Follow the instructions provided below. You will need access to the internet & any web browser. Select the link below and follow the instructions as they are presented to you on the screen.

 To unlock your SIM card:

  1. Log in to MyBell and retrieve your unlock key.
  2. Enter the unlock key on your mobile phone.

Note: Entering an incorrect unlock key 10 times will permanently lock your SIM card. If you need a new SIM card, please visit a Bell store or order one online.

Should you require further assistance, or you are unable to access your MyBell account, you will need to contact Bell Mobility Customer Service. Please call: 1 800 667-0123  or  visit a Bell store

Take care.

I just went into a store front to inquire about setting a PIN for my SIM and was highly discouraged from doing so. I have tried using 1234 and 0000 to unlock my SIM to set a PIN and am now down to 1 chance to unlock it or I will be locked out. What generic code were you given to unlock your SIM?
