Bell email asking to 'complete your account registration'

I ordered an new device, I see it and the billing for it in my existing account. I got a call from Bell Security to confirm I had made this purchase but they said I had ordered some other device, when I called to confirm, I had to call another number because they couldn't see into some other online system to confirm my purchase.

Days later I am still getting email asking me to 'complete your account registration', and my profile shows my credit card is expiring, and I updated it 3 weeks ago.

I think some data integration is missing here.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Copmmunity Forum.

Bell does not send unsolicited emails asking customers to complete registration. If you receive an email claiming to be from Bell asking for registration, it's likely a scam. Bell will never ask for personal information unless you initiate the contact, like when asking for support.

Here's what I suggest that you if you receive a suspicious email.

  1. Call Bell Customer Service & confirm the legitimacy of this email that was sent to you.
  2. Don't click on links or enter information.
  3. Do not share any personal information with anyone you do not know.
  4. If you receive a suspicious email that appears to be from Bell, forward it to: phish@bell.ca
  5. Delete the email.

You can reach Bell by calling: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial #611 from any Bell mobile device.

Please have a look at the following web link. I am hoping you will find something new in this document that will be of benefit to you.

Service provider impersonation scam - Bell

It is far better to be safe & overly cautious now rather than being sorry later.

Take care.

Or you are being defrauded. Something about your narrative does not sound right. Perhaps call Bell at 1-866-310-2355 and confirm your details.

Good Day.

What makes you think it was a representative from Bell that called you? Because he said so? Because of his call display number? Did you provide the caller with any personal information?

Is this a new Bell Mobility account? Have you checked your online credit card information to confirm it is up to date?

If you believe you may be the victim of fraud, there are a few things you should do:

  • If you received a call from Bell and are suspicious, advise them that you will call them back. As a Bell customer you should confirm this before returning the call you received. Do not share any personal information with someone you do not know or trust. You can reach Bell by calling: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial #611 from any Bell mobile device.
  • Log in to your account and change your password
  • If there is any suspicious activity on your Bell account report it to Bell Loss Prevention, by contacting 1-800-509-9904
  • Report it to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre via their Online Reporting System. or by phone at 1-888-495-8501.

I don't not have any payment issues, but I am a very new Bell customer and every couple days I get an email from Bell as well telling me I need to complete registration. The email is legit, I click the link and it brings me to the app...because I completed registration. It's getting annoying.

Similar thing happened to me. Got a call to say my 2 year plan as ending (true) and if I’d like to get a new phone (obviously wanting me to sign up for another 2 years). I asked how much? They said the phone is free (I thought sure but how much is the plan every month? ). He said you pay $70 a month only for 24 months includes the phone). Not too good to be true but a great deal. They said they’d send the phone to my home address. The order showed on my bell account right away. When I clicked on the tracking information it was being sent to some address 1000 miles away. I called Bell to have them change the address (still thinking it was legit  but a clerical error). Bell Fraud Dept. called me back and told it was a bogus offer and Bell doesn’t make sales calls to sell phones or plans. Someone else had ordered a phone by signing into my Bell account and placing the order as they were talking to me. I have two factor authentication on my phone but they said I would be getting a confirmation code in a second and to give it to them to complete the transaction. So I did. And the transaction was indeed complete. They were so professional sounding. I was gobsmacked. I could not even call the courier to change the address because I had not initiated the courier. Only the sender can make changes to the delivery obviously. Luckily Bell was able to stop the delivery before the phone left the warehouse and I was not out the cost. But man, were they good at scamming. I have never given a password to anyone ever in my life. I don’t even know my own passwords because I use the difficult ones my phone produces. When they were able to get into my account they know the answers to the three security questions so I had to change all those with my bank too. It was a nightmare. No financial loss luckily bit way too close for comfort. Here’s the thing: if you download the bell wifi app and log in as a guest. (You have to be in close proximity to the persons modem and download the bell wifi app) You can see the wifi password. You can’t change it, but you can see it. It is not secure for that reason.  It’s a huge problem if you have neighbours who know you use bell.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Copmmunity Forum.

Thank you for taking the time & sharing this with the Bell Community Forum.

Bell does not make calls or send unsolicited emails asking customers to complete the registration for a new 2 yr. plan. The phone that was being offered was not going to be free. Next time, do yourself a favour & hang up.

If you receive an email claiming to be from Bell asking for confirmation, etc., it's likely a scam.

Bell will never ask you for personal information unless you initiate the contact, like when asking for support. You were very lucky this time. You did the right thing in contacting the Bell Fraud Dept.

Here's what I suggest that you if you receive a suspicious email or phone call:

  1. Call Bell Customer Service & confirm the legitimacy.
  2. Don't click on links or enter information.
  3. Do not share any personal information with anyone you do not know.
  4. If you receive a suspicious email that appears to be from Bell, forward it to: phish@bell.ca
