Hi @Andy3

This is undoubtedly a scam. Known as "smishing".

Remember, we will never send you a direct SMS regarding bill "corrections, credits etc." and will never direct you to click on a 3rd party website or send account info via SMS etc. When in doubt, always play it safe.

You can forward the smishing attempt to 7726 (SPAM), but most definitely please delete the SMS and block the number for your security.

If you suspect that you have fallen victim to a smishing scam, don’t hesitate to contact the Canadian Anti-Fraud CentreOpens in a new tab or windowto report it.

Just another Scam tactic! Bell does not e-Transfer funds. They would never send you a message advising you about your credit card or your banking information being expired, needing updating, payment, or having a refund notification that you need to provide details about.

If you are entitled to a refund, it will show up on your account as a credit & will be applied to your current or next bill.

Beware of phishing & malware. Report as junk & delete. Never open a link in any Email or send vital information!

Do not share your information with anyone you do not know!

Caution is the better part of valour! Rather to be safe than sorry!

I am receiving the following text message on my cell phone (Android):

(Bell Payment Refund)

Complete your claim

If I open the link in a secure browser it attempts to hijack my credentials and install malware.

Bell Support Team: Please block all texts from this sender.

Thanks

I deleted and blocked the message, of course, but forgot to send it to 7726 (SPAM).

Next time, I'm sure they will try again, I will forward the attempt also.

I am getting messages from 914-226-XXXX saying Bell owes me $31.16 due to billing error? Alert! Now asking for banking info.

There is no point in blocking the phone number. The scammers spoof the number. If you block them you are possibly blocking a valid number. Plus it won’t do anything to stop them because they change their number all the time.

I received an sms below

Beware, new scam SMS.

I got a text saying it’s from Bell and that I was overcharged and wants me to click on the text to receive an E-Transfer of $150. Just wondering if this is actually from Bell.

Hi. I received a message alert saying that the BELL will gonna refund a 150$ on me for overstating my previous bill. Ang they sent me a link where i should go for the refund. I have feeling that it was a scam cause im paying the same amount every month.. and why they sent me direct message, not here in a Bell App.

I just got this one now.

(ALERT) Bell Msg:

INTERAC e-Transfer received

BeII Mobility Inc. has sent you an INTERAC e-Transfer.

(Note: Sorry dear customer, this is a refund and compensation for your last bill that we've mistakenly overcharged.)

I would suggest a block and delete.

Is this a scam? Anyone else get one?
