Hi Bell community,
Need to activate a replacement SmartCard for your Satellite TV?
Before you get started, make sure you match the SmartCard to the right receiver. The letter you got with the SmartCard will have the 13-character Receiver ID (starting with an R) as a reference. If your letter has already made its way to the recycling bin, that’s okay: just contact us
and we’ll help you figure out which receiver it’s for.
Check the receiver ID
There are three ways you can find the ID number (R##) on your receiver:
- Look on the label on the back of the receiver
Or
- With the receiver on, press the System Info button on the front
Or
- If you have an older model, press the Menu button twice on your Bell remote
Install the SmartCard
Now that you’ve matched up the card to your receiver, look for the card slot. Usually it’s hiding behind a panel on the front of the receiver. Remove the old card and replace it with the new one with the bar code face down to the right.
Your receiver will take a few minutes to reboot, and it’s normal to see an error message while that’s happening.
Activate the card
The last step is to activate your card in MyBell by going to bell.ca/smartcard
.
After activating the card, your receiver will get set up with the Bell system and you may see more error messages that you can ignore. Typically it takes about 15 minutes before you can kick back and watch TV, but in rare cases it may take up to 2 hours.
If you have any problems, you can check the SmartCard error codes and FAQs
.
