Connect Fibe TV to WiFi network after installation

Hi! I just got Fibe TV and I'm trying to hook it up. I've connected the unit to a spare HDMI port on my TV and have succeeded in pairing it to my WiFi network. The TV screen is telling me to open the Google app on my Android phone and either type or say "Hey Google, set up my device". I've done that and both the voice command and the typed command bring up a set of instructions. However, I don't find them clear.

The first step says to power on the device and follow the on-screen instructions to connect to a WiFi network. I assume that means to hit the ON button on the Fibe TV remote, which I've done. I don't see any instructions for connecting to my WiFi network unless that's referring to the line that says "Tap Bell Scr....(067) on the list". What list is it talking about? I don't see any kind of list on the TV screen or on my phone.

Yes, I am using the Bell Streamer and had already read the information you linked without success..

The good news is that I've got it working. I decided to reboot the Streamer and this time I chose NOT to do the Quick Setup. Then it became very clear what needed to be done at each stage so I proceeded on that basis until the setup was complete. It took a while due to a large number of largish updates but it went smoothly and logically. I have no idea if the Quick Setup would actually have been faster if the instructions were comprehensible but I've tested everything and it all seems to work.

In my opinion, the instructions that come up when you do the Quick Setup are utterly UNCLEAR and ought to be rewritten until they make sense. I'm an IT guy by trade and am used to reading technical manuals but the existing instructions (both on the Bell website and onscreen during the install) were far from helpful in getting the Streamer installed.

Thank you for making the effort to help!

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

I would like to answer your question & assist you further, but I am somewhat limited in what I can suggest based on the details you have provided

Can you please provide us with specific information?  How are you trying to access Fibe TV? Are you doing so by way of the Bell Streamer? Are you trying to access Fibe TV on another streaming device? Are you logging in with your MyBell account: Username & password?

I have included the following web link to assist you

Using the Bell Streamer : What is the Bell Streamer?

We are here to help you; just need your assistance in doing so.

Take care.

Unfortunately clearly written instructions is not a strong point for Bell TV these days IMHO. Glad you figured out on your own the step by step process and let us know.

I got a pixel 8 phone this year and the instructions on phone and documentation online are so simple to follow. The Garmin vivoactive tracker and again the on device instructions, app instructions for each feature and on line support is incredible.

Bell seems to be slacking off on the documentation for TV. It is improving slowly. Come on Bell you can do better.

Seems these days if you want support the forum is the place to go and by the time we get answers back we have often figured it out on our own inspire of Bell documentation.

Thanks for adding to helpful solutions when working with bell services.

I think the technology must be changing at warp speed but the documentation is not keeping up. I saw one of Bell's videos on setting up the Streamer when I looked on YouTube but it showed a completely different and much more different remote than I got last week. It was a year or so old. Then I saw one that was only 4 months old and that remote was small and simple but still quite different than the one I got; the remote in that video had at least one USB A input but mine has none; it also had the HDMI and AC ports both at the same end of the little box but mine has them at opposite ends. If the hardware itself is changing that fast that a 4-month old video is already borderline obsolete and if the software has changed much at all, it's not shocking that the existing documentation doesn't work very well.

I suppose dated documentation is the price we pay for constantly-changing hardware and software.

I wish my Streamer had a USB port; I *think* that would allow me to view videos by just plugging in a flash drive containing the files in standard video formats like .AVI, .MP4 and .MKV. But it's fine: I figured out how to connect my laptop to my TV via an HDMI cable: then I just play the flash drive on the laptop and project the image to my TV.

Sorry, I'm rereading that first paragraph a few hours later and it's borderline incoherent. Here's what I meant to say:

I think the technology must be changing at warp speed but the documentation is not keeping up. I saw one of Bell's videos on setting up the Streamer when I looked on YouTube but it showed a completely different remote than I got last week; it was full-sized and had a lot of buttons. It was a year or so old. Then I saw one that was only 4 months old and that remote was small and simple like the one I got last week but still quite different than mine; the remote in that video had at least one USB A input but mine has none; it also had the HDMI and AC ports both on the same end of the little box but mine has them at opposite ends. If the hardware itself is changing so fast that a 4-month old video is already borderline obsolete and if the software has changed a similar amount, it's not shocking that the existing documentation doesn't work very well.
