How do I get the TV picture to use the whole screen on my TV

Got my new "zero cost" replacements for my old 5900 and 3100.

Not impressed at all with the new 9400 and 6500.

The problem is I can't for the life of me figure out how to get the picture to take up the same size as it did with the old receivers. For example, I have a 55" TV and the new 9400 leaves a 5 in border between the picture and the edge of the TV. On the old 5900 there was no unused border. I have tried all the aspect and picture settings but nothing seems to work. The best I can get is the "Fit" aspect, except that when I open the guide both edges are "clipped" and you can't see the channel numbers. Wish I could go back to the old receiver because now my 55" TV only has a 40" picture.

Good Day.

TV's today have a lot of bells & whistles that did not exist years ago. They have come a long ways. You should be able to adjust pretty well anything in terms of sound & video with today's TVs.

Depending on the make & model of your TV, there will a picture setting in your TV configuration menu.

For example you should be able to choose: Optimized, 16:9 Standard, 4:3, or Custom. You can also choose to Fit to screen: Auto, On, or Off.. You can manually move the picture, up, down, bigger of smaller. You can change just about everything & anything.

Have you looked at your TV configuration settings? If you have a Smart TV, you may be able to do a search on the TV's e-manual.

As suggested earlier, reach out to the manufactures support site if you need further assistance.

I should point out one other anomaly when you are viewing some TV movies or stations. Your picture size & quality may not be adjustable. You may be able to make it bigger or smaller, fit screen, full screen or standard, but your TV can not change the attributes of a vintage show, movie, newsreel, etc. It is what it is & there is not much anyone can do about it.

Thank you for posting your question.

Take care.

Does it happen to all channels? I used to have 5662 box and it cannot demonstrate France 24 in full screen, but this French SD channel’s problem was solved when I switched to the latest 7802 box. It’s probably the same for other sd-only channels like Global Halifax, CHEK and lots of international channels.

How do I watch TV with full screen?

Which channel does it happen to? Did you check the picture size settings of your own TV?

Often times the picture on the T.V. is not big enough for the screen.  I have reset it many times and sometimes it stays and the next time it is too small or too large.  Sometimes, it changes so frequent it happens during 1 program several times and at others it changes only when the T.V. is off and I turn it back on later in the day or the next day.

Thank you for your question. Does this happen when you change channels or on one channel? Which TV service do you have? Fibe or satellite? Have you checked with the manufacturer’s web site? The tv may be toggling between SD and HD screens, for some reason. Also try changing the batteries in your tv remote as well as the Bell remote. Weak batteries can cause strange problems
