Years of no problem watching CTV live news. Three weeks now repeatedly receiving the above as tv feed screen goes black and audio stops. ( not the laptop screen) Three emails to unavailable CTV. Phone calls to Bell without any explanation and no problem found re router nor service. Error occurs randomly. Fibe on tv works well. Have to keep refreshing site then wait through SIX commercials ( despite paying for Bell services) Should I give up and switch to another provider?

I see. Yeah I actually have a comparable condition but I live in a one-floor condo. I’m glad to hear your main concern is solved. And just a reminder, you can also try the website version of Bell service. It comes with 1.5h playback but the maximum picture quality is inferior to the TV and I have never compared it with the channel website.

Can you clarify if you are using the Bell Fibe TV app to watch CTV live news, or are you accessing the CTV website directly?

I am accessing via ctvnews.ca/ctv-news-channel
Upper right corner in red "live"
And auto signin via Bell provider
to
ctvnews.ca/live
On laptop Macbook Air - all current updates Ventura 13.2.1
( no changes on my system for months before these problems)

While ctvnews.ca is provided though Bell Media, we can offer you a few suggestions.
- Clear history/cookies & caches
- Reboot your computer
- Test on a different browser/device to see if the same issue occurs

day.
And reboot each day too.
Will see if I can make more observations but can say if I watch Global News live or live streams on other channels it does not happen.

Why do you watch on CTV.ca instead of bell’s tv service? There’s not a single second of playback on the website and the closed captions’ location is pretty annoying. And btw, this feed is available even if you merely subscribe a $10 non-dvr plan (which could be cheaper or even without paying more if your negotiation is great). Lastly, the pic quality on the channel website is merely 720P while Bell offers 1080P (converted from the originally 1080i feed).

Thankyou Alex. I agree with all you have said.
It is more convenient for me to watch this way as there is no tv on the main floor, despite having 2 HD PVR. But the reason that is most applicable is because of my eyesight. I have glaucoma and see poorly especially in one eye.
Also can watch/listen while moving the laptop to kitchen . I understand all your questions and I agree with you.
Surprisingly , today I did not get any errors and hope it stays that way!
