4K Fibe TV app

Would be really nice if the Bell TV app supported 4K on Apple TV and not have to rent additional hardware for this service.

That is all

Thank you

Hi there @jaborgsWelcome to the Bell Community, and thanks for your post.

Currently at this time 4K quality is not available with a Fibe TV app subscription. With that said, we value and appreciate all feedback from our users. 🙂

Have a great day.

Good Day & Welcome.

There has been a recent change to the availability of 4K content on the Fibe TV App. Please refer to the following Q&A for the specific details.

Q. Has there has been a recent change to the availability of 4K Content on the Fibe TV App?

A. "4K Content on the Fibe TV App is available through AppleTV 4K (and other 4K compatible devices).

There are a couple instances where it is not though. It is not available if the client is subscribed to Virgin Plus TV, Satellite TV or ALT TV / Fibe TV App subscription; otherwise, it should be available. If experiencing issues, please ensure that the Fibe TV App is up to date with the latest firmware."

Please note that the ALT TV / Fibe TV app is not to be confused with our new equipmentless Fibe TV. ALT TV was a subscription which was eventually renamed to the Fibe TV app, but customers that are still technically on "ALT TV / Fibe TV App" and have never migrated over will not have access to live 4K content.

Enjoy!

Take care.

Hi @Edison53
Upon looking further into this, to access 4K content, you need to have our Fibe TV subscription with a Bell receiver or have a subscription to our equipmentless Fibe TV and the 4K content will be available through the Fibe TV App. If you are subscribed strictly to the Fibe TV App Subscription / ALT TV or Satellite, 4K content will not be available.

Thanks for the reply and the reassurance.  I have another question re the Bell Fibe TV app.  I will be using the App on my large screen TV.  Does the Bell Fibe App provide 4K video or do I need to invest in another Bell receiver?  Big hockey fan.

I have also read on here that Bell plans to do away with the receiver next year and stream everything through the App.

The Fibe TV app does not provide 4K video. Viewing is available up to HD display quality on the Fibe TV app.

The Better package does include a number of 4K channels as part of your subscription. You can view these channels on the Fibe TV app up to HD video quality.

If you are looking for 4K on Fibe TV then, you require the Fibe TV Box.

Bell announced several new initiatives to reach more customers, enhance resiliency and deliver the easy experience customers want. We are not privy to the timing and details that were announced.

I have included the highlights of this release below.

  • Introduction of tiered wireless plans with rates differing based on class of service, content, and handset financing, available now across Canada.
  • Launch of Internet services in British Columbia and Alberta in the coming weeks.
  • Introduction of Unbreakable Internet in Spring 2026, a unique product proposition that ensures ultra resilient Internet that keeps working during power outages through a combination of wireless backups enabled by Bell Mobility 5G smartphones and the fibre network's passive optical technology.
  • Planned elimination of the TV set-top box, as Bell delivers a cutting-edge, full-service experience through apps on devices customers already own.
  • Expansion of Bell Streaming bundles in select markets to include Crave with TSN/RDS, alongside existing partnerships with Netflix and Disney+, and by integrating high-value third party services for AI, gaming, and security.

Take care.

I am getting 4K video via the Fibe TV app.  Yesterday the Raptors game was on TSN4K.

Hi

According to this link

https://support.bell.ca/fibe_tv/channels/what-is-the-fibetv-app-and-how-do-i-use-it?step=2#step2

"4K content is only available on the Bell Streamer"

Is this still the case..or is the link outdated

Is the fibe tv app 4k on my apple tv 4K the same quality as the VIP7802 and Bell Streamer?

Thanks

Good Day & Welcome.

The Bell Streamer box is hardware-capable of 4K and can display 4K content on apps like Netflix or YouTube, It does not support 4K live sports channels (TSN4K/SN4K) through the Bell Fibe TV app.

The Fibe TV app does not provide 4K video. Viewing is available up to HD display quality on the Fibe TV app.

The Bell Streamer has limitations & that is just one of them. If you are looking for 4K on Fibe TV then, you require the Fibe TV Box.

The Fibe TV App does not include 4K Channels as part of its subscription. 4K Channels only work on a 4K box.

Fibe TV app and how do I use it?

Thank you for posting your question.

Take care.

I use the Bell Fibe App on the Firestick and I get 4K.  I watched the Superbowl on TSN 4K.  It even had the 4K symbol in the corner of the picture.

I have heard some people have been able to use their Apple TV 4K to get TSN4k, but Bell cannot tell me how to do it, nor have they suggested I order the Fibe receiver (which a post above says they are eliminating anyway in favor of apps and devices people already have. Grateful for any advice on how to get this!

The Better & Best package do include a number of 4K channels as part of their subscription. You can view these channels on the Fibe TV app up to HD video quality.

If you are looking to watch TSN & SN 4K channels on Fibe TV, you will need to subscribe to Fibe TV. You will require a 4K Fibe TV Box. E.g. VIP7802, VIP5662w, etc.

The Fibe TV App service does not include 4K channels as part of its subscription. 4K Channels only work on a 4K box.

The Bell Streamer box is hardware-capable of 4K and can display 4K content on apps like Netflix or YouTube, It does not support 4K live sports channels (TSN4K/SN4K) through the Bell Fibe TV app.

TSN generally does not offer true 4K streaming for live content. TSN streaming generally offers a maximum resolution of 720p or 1080p.

Take care.

Thank you. If you look on Reddit, you will see that a number of people have been able to use Apple TV4K to watch TSN4k via the Fibe app. By way of example, a few people have posted a new option (4k) in their video settings on the app. So something seems to be evolving but it hasn’t reached me yet.

i have spoken with three Bell CSAs and not a single one has been able to advise on how to get TSN4k (ie, no one mentioned the need for a specific receiver or even a specific programming package)

also, per your post above:

  • “Planned elimination of the TV set-top box, as Bell delivers a cutting-edge, full-service experience through apps on devices customers already own”. (From which I infer that 4k is coming/might be coming to the app. Which perhaps it has in some cases (see first para above))

Final point: the Bell web site offers Fibe receivers at $10 per month but does NOT mention 4k at all (only HD)

Wrong!

Hello @WelshTerrier, I appreciate your wealth of knowledge but your information is outdated and I would suggest not repeating this information since 4K is available on the Apple TV app now. Although it appears Bell just changed it so you can only view 4K channels on the Apple TV within your home only.

Good Day @tokyokiller & @Aptic

Thank you for your feedback and gracious replies. I cannot comment further on this until I receive further information.

I have reached out to Bell & I am awaiting clarification. If there has been a change, then it is very recent and I am not aware of the scope of this change.

When I hear more, I will post this information on the community forum.

Thank you for your patience and understanding.

Take care.

Can you clarify, please? Are you referring to 4K being available on the Fibe app or just on the Apple TV device? Or 4K being available on the Fibe app installed on the Apple TV device?
