Several people including myself are reporting the FIbeTV app on Apple TV is slow to respond to commands. This has started happening with any changes by end users. Is Bell looking into this? Right now the app is useless. Yes - app deleted and reinstalled, Apple TV rebooted and even OS upgraded.

Thank you for your comment. Unfortunately, the behaviour of any customer connected equipment beyond the Bell supplied device such as the Giga Hub is not Bell's responsibility and not supported. While Bell software may work with Apple TV devices, adding an ad blocker or a customer provided device beyond those Bell approves may or may not be responded to by Bell. From a provider perspective, ads are what pays their bills as well as our own account fees.

Thanks for your response, but I respectfully disagree with that assessment.
This issue is not about unsupported hardware or “customer equipment” behavior—it points to a flaw in how the Fibe TV app handles telemetry failures. Through testing, I was able to isolate the problem to blocked requests to New Relic endpoints. When those requests fail (due to standard network-level privacy filtering), the app progressively degrades over time until it becomes barely usable. Force quitting temporarily resets the state, which strongly suggests improper handling of failed or retrying network calls.
To be clear, New Relic is not an advertising platform—it’s an observability/telemetry tool. Blocking it is a common privacy practice and should not break core app functionality. A production app should degrade gracefully when telemetry endpoints are unreachable, not enter a state of increasing latency and instability.
Also, this is not about ads funding the service. Ads in the TV experience continue to display normally. This is about background data collection endpoints impacting performance when unreachable. These are two separate concerns.
As a developer myself, this looks like a classic case of unbounded retries or blocking calls tied to telemetry. If New Relic experiences downtime or connectivity issues, this could potentially impact all users—not just those running network-level filtering.
I’m not asking for support of my specific setup, but rather highlighting what appears to be a robustness issue in the app itself. It would be worth escalating this to the development team for investigation, as it affects reliability and user experience.
Thanks.

Thank you for your comments. There is no ability for the Community Forum to address your identified development issues directly. Bell staff may note such issues and forward them to the relevant team, but we can not speak to such issues in the forum any further than that.

nope. you're wrong. Bell is having ads promoting the use of other equipment to use the Bell Fibe APP... so ... they have to fix this.

The Bell app on the Apple 4K TV (3gen) is terrible. It frequently crashes, the guide starts on the wrong time, the fast fwd/rewind commands are cluncky. I also have a Firestick and the app is very stable and I don't exeperience any of these issues. I hope Bell can take a better look at the app for Apple TV, as its not stable and is slow to respond.

Hey there @Aptic
Thanks for your post.
We appreciate your feedback regarding your experience with the Fibe TV app on your Apple 4K TV device. We have created a ticket for further investigation, and will be in touch once we receive some news.
Have a nice day,

Hey there @Aptic
A fix to address the slow app issue was previously implemented with the release of Fibe TV app version 26.12. We are sorry that you are still having trouble and we would like to gather a bit more information to help with this investigation.
Please share:
- Where is the crash happening (what screen you are on), and what you were doing (e.g. using the remote and scrolling in the Guide, watching live TV).
- You mention 'the guide starts on the wrong time' and 'fast fwd/rewind commands are cluncky'. Can you share a bit more context about what you are experiencing when using those commands, and a photo of the time issue?
Any more information, repro steps or screenshots will help our teams to investigate this issue as well.
Looking forward to your reply.

When it glitches the app crashes on the guide when scrolling. It then goes back to the Apple home screen. The guide often starts on yesterday, as opposed to the current time and it takes a bit of clicking to go to the current programming. With the firestick, you can actually fast foward a program with the click on one button, that you have recorded. With the appletv, I have no way to fast forward, other than in 30 second intervals by clicking the forward button several times.

Hello @BellPatricia,
I confirm the global slow down over time is fixed since some time but I have the same experience as @Aptic on my Apple TV. The application sometimes crash completely when I reopen the app after some time (guide is shown before the crash). Sometimes I succeed in opening a channel but the app will crash quickly after that. I encounter the issue mainly after I start my TV and reopen the application on my Apple TV (not when I watch something). Seems like related to the guide refresh, and the navigation becomes sometimes really weird too.
Because it's a hard crash, I think you have some logs in your telemetry system 😉 The issue is not new on the last update, but here for a few months.
On my iPhone, the guide also becomes weird sometimes or slows down the performance of the app but nothing crash hard like on Apple TV. I think there are some issues with the guide management.
I try to find a way to replicate the issue, but the issue seems really random and happens when the guide is refreshing.
I hope that can help.
Thank you!

Thank you for sharing @Aptic & @Tophe 🙂
We have passed along these details for further review, and will continue to keep in touch as we learn more. In the meantime, please also let us know if you notice any further issues.
***Update***
- For the issues of the Guide opening at inconsistent times during startup, some work has been done, and a fix is expected to be deployed soon.
- With regards to the app crashing, a separate ticket has now been opened and an investigation to try and fix the issue is underway.
- When it comes to the fast forward/rewind function, you currently need to pause and then slide with the touch remote in order to move the marker.
