Hello all!!
I have been a happy Bell internet customer for a while now (15+ years). I just upgraded to the 3GB plan and the tech just came and installed the modem. My desktop computer has a build in 2.5GB NIC, and I have a CAT6 cable from the 10GB port on the modem, and plugged directly into my 2.5GB card. I am getting unexpectedly low download rates. Ookla says my download is 140.07 Mb/s and upload is 881.22.14 Mb/s.
When I plug into one of the 1G ports I get better results. When I plug my laptop into the 10GB port (it only has a 1G NIC) I get similar results as my desktop.
I have firmware version 1.16.5
I have tried removing the NIC from the device manager & updating the drivers.
While the tech was here we were not able to get it working. The really weird thing is he even went and got another modem from his truck and it had the same result. I have tested sppeds to the modem in the modem console page and the modem is getting 3GB+ speeds.
Are there any known problems with these ports? is there something I can do to fix this?
TIA
David

I am not sure of your question. If I understand you correctly, you are asking about how to obtain the latest firmware for your Giga Hub. The easiest way to do that is to perform a factory reset of the Giga Hub. It should automatically download the latest firmware if it is available to you.
A couple of notes. If you have 2.5 Gb network ports or cards on your computer, that will be the fastest your connection will be. Your network cables need only to be Cat6 or better.
Finally, the best firmware is what works for you and not always the latest. Stability is always a good goal.

Not Alway’s The factory reset in this case didn’t work with the 211 it still showing the This what TCM And the LV2 And I Been Working on for the GIGA Hub 8 G Customer’s to make it more stable there also working Implementing Put in the Update Firmware function instead of rebooting the 213 will be the Latest veer’s coming out … as far as the cat go’s Check with the Manufacturer and stop Buy the cheaper cables lol this might help for Instance the cat -6 is just a Basic 2 f4-wire if you wan’t to brake Full Spec’s of the wiring -the Cat -8 The Newer ones has a Digital Chip to handle the 40 GB Properly I wish bell tech people l’s stop trying to think they Know it this was the Biggest complaint’s for year’s there training need to Evaluated
And Also make when you sure they check the customer’s profile and check the SUFI Tools Software In you’re drop down windows if you have it . cause the 211 some doesn’t always match up the 2.5 DUAL is what they Gave Me as the Devices We use. is More then enough for what I said to get those iif you have a 1gb forget it it’s Not going to Push it you get what ever that 1gb is compatible with also check you’re IP4 Net work setting’s and have the get the latest real tek Drivers that Match there System Devices .se Basic support doesn’t cover this in Bell any more Or and Techexpert lol good luck on that one most are just self taught hired by Bell .

Sorry. I don’t work for Bell. Can you use punctuation to improve my understanding of your concern? You also appear to refer to internal Bell tools that no one has access to, as this is a user to user forum. Community All-Stars are users just like you. We are all Bell customers. Sorry I can’t be of more help.

10 GbBase internet is based on IEEE standards. The correct type of ethernet cable for a 10 Gbe ethernet connection would be a cable that meets or exceeds IEEE 802.3an standard.
This can be unshielded twister pair as either category 6 or 7 UTP pending on the estimated length.
Cat 6 is typically for lengths up to 37-55 meters when transmitting 10 Gbps signals.

well in this case here I'm right there are cables being sold the cheaper just not propperly Shielded which it Degrade's the Signal comming in - Trust me I been doing this a long time with bell and know the services they "Use quite Well I'm affraid- The New cat 8's are not the cheap default cables bell supplied those will not carry a propper signal in fact if you look the seriral up on the cables starter packs they send out they drop DO not get more then 1 gb if you're Lucky..
and are 99% of the time will burn out .
Just for testing faze but there not going to tell you that lol
Weather work for bell or Not Lean the system's what works what dose Not .
Bell had changed there Equipment so many times to match meet the Need's but there Choice of modems from there Supplier don't cut it
then they cut back the 8gb cause they said there wasn't the need.
Wrong I said it was the Equipment from you're supplier in dalas texas thats the problem there Not up to date with the latest technoligy and to get the firmware to fund it's always a problem with there bell staff ither there trainned on getting in to the update gui which where not allowed to get into to see this information which I find at times very sad the older modems we had they so whats the Big secret?
there affraid where alot smarter then they are lol
All in all they better Put back the servives they Originaly offered the customer if there area support's it and the modens they Need to scrpt them and update to a system with propper software firmware protocals that actually
work.
1 the cables that work the best are trhe Avanced Cat -8 no question about this and configore youre net work setting's in you're Control Panel to help get and boost you're maximum performance your'e paying for thats all.
and what that Nic card is capaible user's asume there 1 gb is going to get those
the older cat -5--6 cable are only going to push the limit to they start to fail.
No matter how you look at it you think- the cat 5-6 you bought is going to cut iiiit so be it please you Come back in the chats and say my speed's are low . and if you call bell and report what do think there Protocall is check you're setting from your'e account to the Circit where the connection is some a setting was turned off they might have to do some ajustments to tweak your'e setting's to match your'e profile .. i've made them check lol and they know me if it's not done right I have tools here to check what they did lol.
send out a technition line to the modem is fine it's what You yes you Use after that Depent's on the Qaulity of the cable You Bought <----- and just replace the Moden ither On there Truck or Bell sends one out from there wearhouse stock pile some are new some are Recondition's.
How many time's has bell Told you there Only Responcible up you're Home apartment condos demarcation Point anything thing you ad is your'e Responcibility.After.
I test many areas in the City Of Toronto and the lines up to the Premisess are With Margin of what the Customer pays for
uunless there CO Box out side got Dammages through Watter or Lighting then thats another whole ball game .
Sometime's it helps to get the right people On the phone Not the L1's they Only requited to Basic Trouble shooting they Have Virgin Mobile they Inquired for bell and the don't even get a 1 gb speed.
there tools are Greyed out Unless you Inform them to the propper LV2 "TESTBOARD" people On the Line there just going send a tech out cause they can't go futher in there tools to help you. They are to create a Troubble shoot case to a higher up cause like there "TOOL"S Will Not help you.
I also work for Beamfild Fiber Connect I should know what I'm talking with These are some of the Complaint's I hear every day from there Old provider 's
And where you Bought youre Cat-5 Cat 6 Rj-45 there Sepecs they write- what it can are not always the case 99% of the you bought a Lemon. most it's Just to Push the Product there selling you.
they makes 1.000 off the Esenbly Line some may or many skipped the "Qaulity Checking of The product and you "Bought-It' or your'e going to get a lottle Bottle necking slower speed's then what your'e profile on your'e account's pointing to there servers.

I am going to try to summarize your post and add some comments.
- Consider purchasing quality Cat6 or better (Cat7 or Cat8) network cables. Amazon cables are often of good quality but price is often related to quality. Quality costs a little more. This is especially true for connections to gaming consoles.
- Don't buy network cables from a dollar store, drug store or corner store or dep. Computer stores are usually OK but again, price is related to quality.
- Keep all cable runs as short as possible. Long cable runs can reduce your network signal quality and speed. Another important factor to consider when connecting a gaming console.
- Don't loop or kink network cables.
- Use proper cable clips to secure cables to baseboards. Don't create a tripping hazard.
- Know that speed is often a matter of experimenting. Know a little bit about your device, especially the network connection in the device. A 1 Gb fibre profile and a wired network connection will never go faster that 940 Mbps up and down, no matter how much you experiment. A 3 Gb connection can exceed that speed slightly on a 10 Gb network card.
- Note for gaming consoles: a wireless connection will introduce latency into your internet connection and may connect at a lower speed. Latency or ping time above 20 ms will affect your gaming experience. A wired connection to a gaming console will normally get 5-10 ms latency on a fibre internet connection.

Something to remember is were not running data centers in our home. At least most of us are not. With the price of Cat8 is it even worth buying cat6?
I purchased this cable: DDMALL CAT8 Ethernet Cable
I am now getting download speed over 2000 Mbps. For the price of Cat 8, I would just use it everywhere I can as you never know when technology will change down the road - it's just future proofing.
