Airplay issues - can't ping devices on my network

I am having issues with Airplay. I have been using aiprlay for years and it was always reliable... until I switched to Bell.

At this point, I am thinking of cancelling my service or buying my own wifi router.

Strangely I can do screen mirroring from my iPhone to my Apple TV... but airplay for music does not work.

I started to do some tests using the ping command. I realized that I can only ping the address of my Apple TV from a computer that is connected to the gigahub using an ethernet cable! If the computer uses wifi, I can't ping my Apple TV. Similarly, airplay only works from the computer that is connected with the ethernet cable.

There is obviously a problem with the firewall... but Bell does not allow its client to play with the firewall.

I give one last chance to Bell to fix their issue... I think I will first try to switch company, because 6E router with 1+ Gbps port are really expensive. I have a 1.5 Gbps connection and I don't want to use a router that only allows me to use 1 Gbps.

Bell?? Anyone is around to help me with my problem? I give you a month to fix that, otherwise I will switch to a provider that allows user to run their own router... (I have read few articles online about using your own router with the gigahub and it sounds complicated and not very stable.)

I hope, I will get some help to fix this. Thank you.

Could you try forgetting the wifi network on all the Apple TVs and connecting them again?

Are you connected to the guest Wi-Fi? (The one with a V, like Bell123-V) Which apps are you having problems using airplay with? You can try to factory reset the modem first to see if that fixes it. Press and hold the largest button on the front until the screen asks to confirm the reset.

No the guest ssid is disabled. I have renamed bell ssid to my own name.

Airplay and ping was working last week.

My gigahub is brand new, got a replacement last week because the previous one was defective.

Is the Apple TV connected using Wifi or Ethernet? Can you also try turning off “Whole Home Wifi” in the giga hub settings, then turn off the 2.4ghz wifi, and try airplay again?

I tried to turn off whole home wifi. I disabled 2.4 ghz band and that worked but only with one of my Apple TV. My second Apple TV seemed to be connected using the 6ghz band. I was not able to get AirPlay working with my 2nd Apple TV.
That solution partially worked but would not be usable long term. I have one pod and in order to use the pod, whole mesh wifi needs to be activated.

That solved the issue. Although I needed to do something similar on my PC that is connected with wifi. Not too sure exactly what is the problem exactly... I would like to find a more robust solution.

Thanks for helping me fixing the issue.

I had problem with Airplay in the past with Bell and not sure how come the issue was fixed. I might still invest in buying my own router. I am not a big fan of the gigahub... the modem options are really dumbed down.

Apple suggest the following settings for router https://support.apple.com/en-ca/HT202068 , most of the stuff on this page is not configurable by the user on the gigahub...

Back in the days that I had my own Asus router never had any issues with Airplay.

Problem is back. Modem rebooted for unknown reason at 9h30. Lost connectivity while working. Also ability to use airplay.

I tried to forget the the network on iphone and apple tvs, it did not work this time.
