The ability to change the icon is no longer available in the Wi-Fi App. It auto-selects the icon for you when it is connected to your network. You can change the name only. If it does not recognize the type of device, it may assign the wrong icon or no icon at all.

Hi there @Network123,
Welcome to the Bell Community, and thank you for reaching out 🙂
Great question!
To change the Icon simply:
- Log into the Bell Wi-Fi app
- Click Devices
- Select the device
- Under the category section choose Smart Phone.
Let the Community know if you need further assistance.

This doesn’t work since late July. Bell updated the app and the ability to change the icons in the app is gone. Please restore it.

The ability to change the icon is no longer available in the Wi-Fi App. It auto-selects the icon for you when it is connected to your network. You can change the name only. If it does not recognize the type of device, it may not assign an icon to it at all. E.g. ScanSnap ix1600, etc.
You can rename a device & change the icon from within your Bell modem. Some of the device information collected in the modem is similar to the information in the Wi-Fi app.
To do so, you need to: login to your modem > Select My devices > Enter Administrator password > Primary Wi-Fi > Select your device > Select Settings - Pencil > From here, you can change the icon & give your device a name. > Select Save & Exit.

Thanks, but I use the Admin function on Modem and I rename devices and change the icons and it doesn’t reflect the change in the Bell Wifi App. Also the bell Wifi app retains device MACs that I de try keyed from the modem “as forget device”. There is a problem with the App since July. Bell developers need to know this and review as this is an issue. I have 81 devices each with static IP addresses and all named correctly in the modem with correct icons. They all appear fine on my Modem Admin page but on Bell wifi app I have 127 devices, 81 active devices. I keep deleting the the offline devices from the Bell wifi app but they reappear as ghosts the next time I log back in. They are old device MAC addresses and have no assigned IPs. Modem is Giga Hub connected to a 10 Gbe Switch via CAT 8 from 10 Gbe port. The 10 Gbe switch then feeds the two Bell wifi 6E pods via Cat 8 on the uplink 2.5 Gbe drop (left port) of the pods. I’m a Network administrator and I can’t for the life of me understand why the Bell wifi app retains old ghost MAX IDs that the modem has flushed and are nowhere to be found on my homes network.

It is true, I have two ghost devices that remain as in my active devices. Also, as mentioned, it isn't possible to change the appearance of the icon for a device. I find that the previous app was basic and not very attractive but was more stable.

The easiest way I found to do this is the following. If for example the device is a TV but is displaying as the default network logo or something else entirely. Edit the name in the Wi-Fi app and simply name it TV. You’ll see the icon changes to a TV and then you can give it a more descriptive name. I’ve done this with all my computers, iPhones and tablets. Even worked for my 2 Google Home minis. Hope this helps until a fix is implemented to directly edit the icons.

Good day, I tried a couple of times and it didn't work. It is for a camera, I tried with the word Camera, then I added Camera and the room. Never changed each try.

Yes, there are some devices that don't seem to work with that particular approach. I have the same situation with my cameras. I have tried using the brand name, I've tried security camera and just camera. I am left with a device with no icon unfortunately. Hopefully there will be a fix for this soon!

I am trying to change the icon on the Bell Wi-Fi app. I was able to change it before but now with the update I cannot. I had a new camera installed by Bell Smart Home and the icon is a laptop.
