is there anyway you can bypass the parental block control?
My son loves playing video games. I know It is winter break but I don’t want him to stay up the whole night. I blocked his computer from the internet from 1:30Am to 6am. His computer is connected to Hub 4000.
I found that even when I blocked his computer internet access from my Bell wifi app, he seemed still having the access…is that possible?
Thank you!

Try defining his devices using Mac address of each device. Ie, cell phone, laptop, pc, tablet etc. That way you can restrict each device. I found that if i connect via ethernet wire and wifi for same device, i have to define both options when each one is in use. I think that maybe because it uses the laptop network card Mac address when on wifi, and laptop Ethernet port/ card Mac address. Block both. Login with each one to block. If someone has better info, please advise.

Hi @jzanin
Another option is McAfee Security from Bell. It works with your Windows User Account settings.
Check out How to setup parental controls in McAfee Security from Bell.

Kids can be sneaky....Maybe he is connecting to other routers or a middleman device that you are not aware of (via Wi-Fi or ethernet) that is feeding his computer. To figure it out.....go to your modem setting page (just type 192.168.2.1 or http://home in your browser while connected to your Bel modem) when you cut his computer at night and click on the devices section that will tell you everything connected and consuming bandwidth.....then you will be able to tell how and what device he is using to access the internet. From there you can block any device he is using to bypass your parental lock.....hope this helps and let us know how he is skirting your attempts to block his computer.

- Is it possible that he is accessing using "incognito" setting to hide who he is, and therefore, your router cannot see his Mac address.
- He may have special software to hide his identity, but his password allows access.
- Try doing a test yourself, as incognito.

I think you got it! I bet you he is using another device, router or gateway, that is linked to your master router, and that device can mask the real address, because your router will only see the other intermediate device address. Do what JD described. Login at 3am when he is on daily, and check who is on the network and block. Also easy way is unplug router at night when you go to bed and plug in each morning when u wake up. Will that work for u, or do u have your thermostat or other critical devices linked up?
He may also be using his brothers computer after he goes to sleep! Best block everyone in the house at bedtime except ur self. Try it.

Tell me, are u saying, Bell 4000 hub will NOT show all active connections? I have 3000 now, and going to install 4000 this week. I need to now if this upgrade is going to be a issue for me too. I need to see active users on App.
Thanks

from bell wifi app, I can see “all” active connections. The weirdest thing is I don’t see my son’s computer showing active but I know he is using his computer.

The Wi-Fi app will show devices that are connected to the modem or Bell's pods. If it's not showing up, it could be one of the following reasons:
- Device is connected to neighbor's Wi-Fi
- Device is connected to a 3rd party router/extender connected to your modem
- Device is using a random MAC ID to show up as a new device on the network (that you don't recognize), without any blocks applied. To check this, go through the list of devices on your network and see if there are any you cannot identify, or if a new one appears on the network around the time your child connects
- Device is using a hotspot from a cell phone

If the device is connected to a 3rd party router and connected to the modern… I am not able to see the advice showing on the app?
I blocked all devices in the house from 130AM. And I don’t see any unknown devices showing on the app.

Good afternoon,
I am looking for options to help me monitor and control which websites my kids (pre-teen) can access. The issue is that if I install an app on their devices or PC, they are savvy enough to disable it. So I need something that is essentially "invisible" and will quietly work in the background, without drawing attention to itself. We have a multitude of devices (ipads, laptops, desktops, etc), but they all access the internet via our homehub (I don't recall if it is HH3000 or HH4000). We are new to Bell, having activated our service in December 2021.

Its an old post, but most device like pc, iphone, ipad, etc allow to use a private mac address on the wifi connection properties. If the user click forget on the wifi and reconfigure it a new mac address will be generated. This is a privacy protection to avoid tracking. The parental control work with the mac address. It may be impossible to use a good parental control unless you also add parents control to the device to lock wifi settings.
