Bypass Parental Control

is there anyway you can bypass the parental block control?

My son loves playing video games. I know  It is winter break but I don’t want him to stay up the whole night.  I blocked his computer from the internet from 1:30Am to 6am. His computer is connected to Hub 4000.

I found that even when I blocked his computer internet access from my Bell wifi app, he seemed still having the access…is that possible?

Thank you!

Good Day.

You are asking: "How is this then possible please?" If he has the password for your Wi-Fi network, then he probably has your login credentials for your MyBell account.

He cannot connect the Wi-Fi app to your MyBell account unless he also has your MyBell credentials, i.e. Login username & password.

In order to install & connect the Wi-Fi app on to your MyBell account, he requires access to MyBell.

To fix this problem, I would suggest that:

  1. You uninstall the MyBell & Wi-Fi apps from all of your devices that do not require access to your Bell account details.
  2. Remove all unknown & disconnected devices from the Bell Wi-Fi app
  3. Change your login password for your MyBell account.
  4. Change your Wi-Fi network password.
  5. You will need to enter the new password on each of your Wi-Fi connected devices.
  6. Re- establish & setup the freezes once again.

Does your son & his friend also have access to your Bell modem? If so, then you should consider changing your Bell modem administrator password. (Your modem is only accessible if you’re currently on your home network. If prompted, enter the administrator password. Unless you’ve changed it, the password is the serial number located on the sticker on the back of the modem.)

Please check out the following for further information & details.

Manage your modem’s settings in the interface of the Home Hub 3000 and 4000, and the Giga Hub

Take care.

Thanks. But what I don’t understand is, if I have changed the My Bell password, why is he still able to login with an old password? This is a massive security problem.

Good Day,

Thank you for your reply.

He cannot login with an old password unless of course the modem was factory reset to the defaults that I mentioned to you in my initial reply.

Did you auto save your MyBell login username &  password, Wi-Fi password, modem login & administrator password.

Clear your cache, cookies & saved passwords in all of your devices, computers & browsers.

I will agree with your summary. You have a security issue that needs to be fixed.

Take care

Hi,

I have a WIFI block on my son’s playstation from 11pm to 8am. However when I look at the Wifi app it shows the playstation was last online at 5.30am. How can that be if it’s during the blocked period?

Thanks

Steve

Is it not possible to set a WIFI block for a device that has different times on weekdays vs. the weekdays? Or why can't 2 blocks be added for the same device? i.e. one for the weekday and one for the weekend.

Hey @Steve W

Thanks for your post 🙂

You can block or pause Wi-Fi  Internet access per device, and create schedules for when the Internet access is blocked. You simply customize the time range for school nights, bedtime, and custom options by touching the time stamp above each option.

@BellPatricia

Hi, thanks, but it doesn’t allow it seems to set block times for e.g Sun-Thurs and different times for Fri,Sat for the same device?

Cannot control my sons wired pc anymore in the Bell WIFI app, doesn't even show up in the app. It used to show up last week, and was able to control it in the app. Called tech support and they said that this is a new update on the app and we are not able to control wired connections. I just want to freeze the internet during the night, but unable with the new update. Any ideas ? Thanks ahead.

Hi, my son has figured out that when his chrome book is blocked, all he has to do is click, forget the WIFI signal, and then re-link back to the same WIFI signal and the block is gone and he can use the WiFI. How can I stop this?

I use the MyBell App to stop my son from playing video games all day. But it seems that he has logged into the MyBell App and no matter what I do I cannot remove it. Do I have to contact support to remove his login or is there a way online to do so?

Good Day & Welcome to the bell Community Forum.

The source of your problem is not the MyBell App. Please remove the  MyBell app & Bell Wi-Fi app from your son's computer & devices.

If you have shared your MyBell login & password with your son, you need to change this password.

He cannot connect to the Bell Wi-Fi app unless he has access to your MyBell credentials, i.e. Login username & password.

There is no need for you to call Bell Tech support. There is little they can do for you in a situation such as this.

Your only defense is the privacy of your personal Bell profile & passwords. If you are the key master, then you get to control & decide who has access to the doors that are open & closed!

Take care.

The WIFI was blocked for this device starting 11pm last night. (Updated to 10.30pm today). But it shows that it was connected until 2am. How is that possible?

Good Day.

Thank you for posting your question. It is somewhat difficult to accurately answer your question with the limited information you have shown.

The source of your problem may not be the MyBell App. I can only speculate that your son has once again ingeniously been able to figure out how to gain access to the app to change the freeze settings.

Does your son have access to the  MyBell app & Bell Wi-Fi app? If so, start by removing both of these apps from your son's computer & devices.

If you have shared your MyBell login & password with your son, you need to change this password.
