Just had the gigahub installed at my cottage for fibre internet. It’s a 3 season cottage in south central Ontario. I plan to suspend the service over the winter. Installer said I could unplug it and leave it in the unheated cottage over the winter. Winter temps down to -30C. Is this correct? If not, can I unplug and take home with me? Do I need to protect the connector in the cottage? Thanks.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.
There is no need to take it with you. As long as it secure & not exposed to the elements, it can be left in place. If you are suspending your service, you can just unplug the Giga Hub from the power supply. You can take it home with you if you so desire.
There is reason to disconnect the connectors if you are leaving the modem in place. The connectors need to be protected from the elements & kept away from any little critter who decides to burrow & snack on them. Nothing special.
Come spring, all you need to do is plug the modem power cord in & unsuspend your Internet service.
Thank you for posting your question.
Take care.

Yes. Do not damage the connector! Just be careful! Have a look at the green fibre cable in the self-install picture provided in the link below.
Every cable that connects to your modem is critical & must be handled with care. The connections on all of them will take little force to break away from the fibre or ethernet cable connector. Treat it like glass. Very, very thin hair like crystal glass.
You need to be careful when handling all of the wiring.

Thanks for the reply. Ery helpful. I have one further question. The installer left me enough cable to install the gigahub in my basement should I want to power my phone and freeze/temp monitor in the winter. We keep the cottage basement heated. It would mean drilling a hole (he said 1 inch) in the floor, disconnecting the gigahub and running the cable into the basement where I’ll reconnect the gigahub. Do I have to take any precautions with the connector when I’m passing it through the hole. Don’t know if there any exposed fibre optic ends. Thanks.
