It tells me to click on update to download the new version but when I do nothing happens,  If I open the McAfee app, it says my Mac is secure and up to date with the newest version,  How do I stop the pop up window from appearing?

Click on the blue "how to fix this" and see what options it offers. Might be running low on free disk space, or some other issue could be causing it.

Error message Has more information on the error. Sounds like downloading the MCPR tool and totally removing any previous remnants of the software might fix the issue.

Hi @Peaches2,

Thanks for your post, and welcome to the Bell Community 🙂

Do you have any third party security software other than Bell McAfee installed/active on your Mac computer? If you do, we recommend that you disable/uninstall it, and then test to see if the Update is successful.

We also suggest that you check to ensure your Mac computer meets the system requirements. You can lean more about the system requirements here: How to activate and install McAfee Security from BellOpens in a new tab or window

I did have a free anti virus app but I deleted it and tried again to update with no success.  I uninstalled the McAfee app completely and I'm still getting the alert!!  I'm so frustrated right now with this I just want to delete it and go back to the free anti virus app.  I also installed the McAfee through Bell on my PC and everything seemed to be fine until a couple of days ago when I started getting an error message about the app needing a Windows App runtime version.  So now this is both computers that have issues with this software....I'm not impressed at all!!  I hesitated adding the McAfee software to both computers as it's been available for quite some time, now I'm mad at myself for ever loading it.  Both our Mac and our PC were working perfectly before I tried to download McAfee.

Why am I not able to download the latest McAfee update?

It always keeps giving this message for several weeks now:

Hi there @Kerala
Are you able to share what device (make, model and operating system) you are attempting this on?
Looking forward to hearing back.

My desktop is HP Envy23 with i5 processor running on Window 10 Home; this is where I am getting stuck @77%, when I try downloading:

Lately, I have a pop up box saying there is an update for McAfee. I click on update and it goes away. The next day it is back and this has been going on for a month. I opened the McAfee app and clicked on update and it says I am up to date. How do I get rid of this popup?

Good Day.

A McAfee notification about an update could be either legitimate or a scam. If it's a legitimate update notification from McAfee, it's usually found in the system tray near the clock, or within the McAfee application itself. However, fake McAfee pop-ups and emails are a common tactic used by scammers. To verify, check for the official McAfee shield icon in the system tray, or open the McAfee application and navigate to the update section within the app. If the notification appears in your browser, it's likely a scam.

Please check out the weblink I have included below. This document includes McAfee support details on: "How to repair Fix Fake PC Store app pop-ups."

Your browser or Windows system displays fake McAfee notifications | McAfee Support

If you think that you’ve become a scam victim, go to McAfee's Report a scam page to see what your next steps can be.

Take care.
