Delivery fails when I forward a message to the bell phishing and abuse e-mails

I have tried to forward a message to the bell phishing and abuse e-mails identified on your website as phish@bell.ca and abuse@bell.ca however in both cases I receive the error message.  I am trying to see if e-mails coming from Bell’s billing e-mails are legitimate … but strongly believe they are not and looking for confirmation from Bell on them!

Thank you for your question. I just tested the two addresses and did not receive any bounce message. For some reason, you sent messages to "phish+Junk@bell.ca" and "abuse+Junk@bell.ca" Those aren't the correct addresses and would likely bounce. I suspect your computer or software has changed the addresses, adding "+Junk" for some reason.

I understand that, but this is what the error message is. There would not be a delivery failure if you somehow did not use abuse+Junk@bell.ca.

What e-mail client are you using, and are you using any third party anti-virus software?

I just sent a test message to abuse@bell.ca using Gmail, and it was delivered without any issues.

No, my messages were sent to phish@bell.ca and abuse@bell.ca and the error message that was returned showed a + sign!  I sent via the bell link, and not something I typed!

Thank you. Unfortunately I can't say anything more. The addresses are valid, as I said. I have no idea why they generated a bounce message to you.

Will investigate further, but messages to both were via Bell’s Phising site as links and not typed by me.

You are using + e-mail addressing, which is something you have to setup in your e-mail client for it to work.

It's possible those e-mail destinations do not allow + e-mail addressing.

I don’t understand your response in that I am on the Bell internet site and clicking on their link phish@bell.ca.

I DO NOT type in the email.   I have even copied then pasted this e-mail address from the Bell website and then tried forwarding the phishing e-mail to Bell and again the same error I reported in my first post!   I have not set up + anything so I am at a total loss!

Yes, but your e-mail client is sorting it when you click by adding +junk to it. That is a setup on your end.

You can try copy-pasting phish@bell.ca instead of clicking on the link.

Report any suspicious email that appears to be from Bell by forwarding it to phish@bell.ca. To do so, start a new email message and attach the suspicious email, as this will include additional header information to help us investigate

You are not reading my responses very well!  As stated I have copied and pasted, clicked on the link, I even created a contact with phish@bell.ca and abuse@bell.ca and every attempt has given the error response I pasted in my first posting!   I have not setup up anything to add “+” to anything or I would not be able to send an e-mail to anyone!

I have used mail on my iPad, logged on via the internet for Bell Mail and checked out the sent message which clearly shows no plus sign; as shown below:

To: abuse@bell.ca

Sent: Thursday, December 26th 2024, 09:12

Subject: Spam e-mail?

logged onto the Bell Email server via Safari, no plus sign and e-mail failed to send!   Checked all the settings and found nothing.

I have yet to try my PC and outlook!
