Email failure on iPhone and iPad?

On my iPhone and iPad my Bell inbox email suddenly does not appear?  It shows email received from about 2 years ago, but not current.  My MacBook email appears fine and webmail has all the messages.  I have deleted and reloaded the mailbox several times and while the mail may appear for a few moments, it once again disappears?

All of my iOS programs are current, with the newest versions loaded.

Any thoughts?

Good afternoon @David63,

Thank you for reaching out to the Bell Community 🙂

Are you using Bell Webmail on your iPhone/iPad, or accessing your email through a third party email client (if so, which one)?

If you are using a third party email client to download emails, and you also have Mail Forwarding enabled, please disable it and test again.

To check simply log into your Bell Webmail and click on the gear icon (Settings) on the top right. Then:

  • Select Mail.
  • Select Mail Forwarding.
  • Select Enable forwarding and remove to disable mail forwarding.
  • Click Save.

@BellPatricia

Thank you Patricia -

I have an iPhone 11.   I use the apple mail app with three different accounts - one corporate, one Gmail and one Bell.net.  This final account is the one I am having trouble with.

I access all accounts through the Apple mail app.

I do not have the 'forwarding' option enabled on the address.

I have the same issue with the address on my iPad.

I do not have the issue with my Macbook.

My Apple devices all have the current iOS - with the iPad and iPhone both being iOS 18.0.1.  I have spoken with the Apple tech team and they have not identified any issue at their end (particularly as it only seems to effect the iPhone and iPad email).

When I plug the phone into my laptop the current email content appears briefly -- but then disappears again. Email from other accounts (not Bell) remains unchanged - and webmail is operating normally.

Is there an issue with 18.0.1 for the Bell mail server?  This was suggested to me.

I appreciate your help.

Having issues with email not loading on my phone. It goes into load mode. I deleted account and then recreated account. Worked at first but then a day later same issue. I am able to see the mail but when I select to view it spins

Good morning, @Sam27. Welcome to the Bell Community, and thanks for your post.

For the Community to be better able to assist, could you please provide further details?

  • What email provider are you using? Is this with Sympatico, or a non-Bell provider (Gmail, Yahoo, etc.)?
  • What kind of phone are you using? Are you able to replicate the issue on a different device?
  • Does the issue persist when logging in via a web browser?
  • When you say you deleted the account, are you meaning the app? If not, have you tried deleting and reinstalling the app as well?

Looking forward to hearing back from you. Best wishes.

Email is sympatuco email.
it is an iphone

when I am using webmail on internet I do not have same problem.

Via iOS account settings, I deleted sympatuco emails account and then re added account. I am using the mail app that is on iPhone. Note it is with sympatico only as I have no problems with my other email accounts I have or work email.

Hey @Sam27

Thank you for your reply.

Can you clarify what model of iPhone you have, and if it up to date? Does the issue happen on any other devices or just the iPhone?

Are you able to send emails without issue? Are you connected to your Bell home Wi-Fi or to Mobile data?

We recommend that you try deleting the mail app, then reinstall it and reboot your device.

Let the Community know how everything is going.

@BellPatricia

I’ve had the exact same problem with both my bell.net and sympatico.ca email accounts. I used to use my iPhone SE 2020 running iOS 18.3.1 and I’ve had the issue at least since iOS 18, but maybe before.
ive deleted the accounts and reinstalled them but the problem comes back almost immediately. I am now using Outlook and it’s fine, but I prefer the Mail app.
webmail is fine as well as my Gmail account on Mail.

Thank you for your concern. What you describe is an occasional frustration I have also experienced. When this happens, there are a couple of things I try which have helped resolve the issue.

Restart the device. Power off and power on again. In Apple devices this can be a helpful fix.

Reconfirm all your mail settings, especially your password. Re-enter your password. This can also clear e-mail issues. You can find all the settings here.

All I can say is that Apple devices, as great as they are, can sometimes get... confused.
