Fibe line on wrong side of house - advice needed

Telecon (working for Bell) today installed/buried the fibre line from the road to the house. However the Bell box is on the other side of the house. I noted all other homes have it on the gas line/Bell line side. I informed the installer (leadhand) prior to installation but he put it on the other side. I just wanted to know the following:

1. can someone let me know if it matters whether the new fibre line should be on the other side?

2. if it is wrong, when Bell actually goes to hook it up, and if it has to be moved, do I incur a fee for fixing Bell's contractor's mistake?

I did send the following message today to the supervisor I contacted at an earlier date (but I have not received a reply as of this writing):

Good morning- sorry to bother you again but just wanted to advise you that guys buried cable line to house but put it on opposite side of gas/bell line unlike other homes - I did show leadhand where the bell/gas line was prior to installation- not sure if it matters but I don't wish to pay for rework and/or have hookup problems later when Bell hooks line to house for use - if it's not a concern please let me know- if it's not your men, please advise who I should contact to address the concern- I believe they did it this way because of asphalt driveway-

Thanks you for your concern. This happened to my neighbour. His original installation was on the wrong side of the house. When he had fibre finally installed, the installer ran fibre around the house to the place the customer wanted. There was no charge.

Good Day.

Your question is a difficult one to answer when I am here & you are there. I would need to be there to determine what is the location for buried cable. There are many factors that must be considered in making that decision.

Yes, it does matter where the Bell Fibre line is buried and its entrance point to the home. The first choice normally would be the previous entry point. This in many cases is just not always possible. The location chosen by Telecon contractor may be better suited for any number of reasons. You mentioned that you have an asphalt driveway. That would be the first obstacle to overcome & is more than likely the reason for the choice. There may also be other factors that influence this decision, e.g. property damage, other buried services, serviceability for repairs, etc.

If the location chosen by Telecon is not serviceable for your dwelling & it needs to be moved, then it will not be at your expense. Bell is paying the contractor to do what is best to deliver service to your home.

At the end of the day, the goal must always be to have a Happy Customer.

Take care.
