HomeHub 4000 Folders are in French instead of English?

Hi All,

I have Bell Fibe Internet with the HomeHub 4000 Modem/Router. I've noticed that when I click the Home Hub 4000

link that you can see in the screenshot below that it then shows the following folders. But for some reason they are in French rather than English as can be seen in the second screenshot. I'm wondering if anyone know a fix for this so that they are in English?

Any updates here Bell? We are over 1.5 years into this issue and my Giga Hub folders are still in French… Hello? Bonjour?

The reality is you (Bell) haven't fixed something so simple and we the customers pay for it to be working properly. 🤬

I thought everyone following this thread would find the following comment interesting. If the software issue resulted in all folders being shown in English for residents of Quebec, Bell Canada would be breaking the latest French language law (“Modernization of the Charter of the French language” passed on June 1, 2022) and could be fined. In this scenario I’m fairly certain that this software bug would have been fixed by now.

I'm more than certain they can also determine the location of the client or customer by IP so they should be able to say if here choose English if they're choose French

I am located in Quebec, and choose to use English as my first language. Location should have nothing to do with this feature, other than perhaps the initial default. Regardless of the location, there should still be a user selectable option.

It has nothing to do with location. It's a bug in the firmware causing this issue. They will have to roll out an update to address this issue in order for this to work properly.

I agree, but there are very little setup options on this device

Sometimes less is better. It's basically a modem with some extra features that also provides basic routing and NAS functions.

Exactly.

So the only solution seems to be get a real NAS solution??? It seems like it can't stream video files anyway if they are greater than a certain size and it re-organized all my files without asking!

I am not sure if the bug is still there or not, but the NAS functionality is more an entry level style NAS and pretty basic.

For some more advanced NAS functionality a "real NAS" would likely be a much better option.

Just upgraded to a Giga Hub and am experiencing this issue as well. It occurs with no hard drive connected. (Also, hard drives do not have a "language setting.")

Has this issue been resolved in the years since it was raised? Subscribing.

@BellPatricia

We have had a Seagate 7TB external HDD attached to a HomeHub 4000 via USB for a couple of years now, sure it was in french, but through the "repertoire" option we could still access the whole driver directory and see all available videos, photos and music.

Some time in the last few months there was a change with the HH4000 and it not only changed the language to English (finally), it also renamed the drive path (had to remap through windows), but the WORST change is that there are now only the Videos, Pictures and Music options appearing and they are far from the complete list which is stored on the drive.

At least with French we had a path to use the drive to access digital media and play it on our LG TV - now we cannot even do that.

Is there a way to revert the Router to a previous version or somehow activate / re-implement the "Directory" option that used to appear?
