MacBook Can’t Connect to Wifi

My MacBook Air will not connect to the wifi. I can’t toggle the switch to turn it on/off. All other devices in the house work on the wifi so I’ve reset the modem and my laptop several times. Doesn’t fix it.

Thank you for your question. It appears that is an internal issue with your computer. The first suggests to check with your computer manufacturer’s support web site. In this case, there are a number of solutions from Apple.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

  1. How old is your MacBook Air?
  2. Have you rebooted your MacBook Air?
  3. Have you verified that your MacBook Air is up to date with the most recent OS?
  4. When you go to your Settings menu, is the Wi-Fi indicator ON or Off? If it is turned Off & you cannot turn it back On, then your problem is not with your modem. If it is On, then choose the network you want to join. Make sure that you are within range of a Wi-Fi network that you can join.
  5. If you don’t see the network you want to join, click Other Networks to display nearby networks.

If your computer has wireless capability but you don’t see Wi-Fi in Network settings, the Wi-Fi service may not be set up. On your Mac, choose Apple menu.> System Settings, then click Network in the sidebar. (You may need to scroll down.)

  1. Click the Action pop-up menu, then choose Add Service.
  2. Click the Interface pop-up menu, then choose Wi-Fi.
  3. Enter a name in the Service Name field, then click Create.

If after verifying all of the above and you still are unable to turn your Wi-Fi from Off > On, you should contact Apple tech support. You may need to do a system recovery on your MacBook Air and or arrange for Apple to do check out your hardware.

Take care.
