I have a Home hub 3000 but we have at times 15 devices on it. Not all actively been used, but in the home. For some time now, i have been getting more and more of my telephone calls (linked via Ooma telco box, to modem 3000) dropped or the other party cannot hear me speak or i cannot hear them speak. One way sound only. Then my telephone calls have interference sometimes. No problem has been found by Bell. My Whatsapp phone calls always drop after about 20 seconds. There is also much Jitter on the bell fibre line. Hence i upgraded from 150 to 500mbs speed, but no improvement. I know just got modem 4000. How many connections devices can 4000 handle vs 3000? Don't tell me 256 devices.

Hi JD, you have 52 connected to modem 4000 or 3000? Because Bell told me i have exceeded the reasonable 8 limit for 3000.
I have 15 on the 3000 and all is good, but voip phone cant stand the loss and confirmed jitter is high. But Bell said they dont care for jitter! That is why i am upgrading to 4000. I hope it resolves the voip phone issue. Are u using voip phone as a connection or Whatsapp? Even my Whatsapp drops every 30 seconds.

I guess then the problem i have is too many active devices like computers and Omma phone causing omma phone to drop calls on 3000.
Now i upgraded to the New latest white modem 4000 and the system is ok now.

Hi, i should add, we have fibre Bell in home and in newer part of Milton, Ontario. So i can't understand why so much jitter on bell lines. When i call bell, they tell.me they only care for upload download speed and not quality of lines and signal, the interference or jitter on line is causing grief for my Ooma voip phone linked to modem 3000. Soon upgrading to 4000 because of this. Bell Techy, can you comment? See my previous chat message today. This is a continuation. Thank you

I don't know how many devices can connect to Bell modems but I know I have 52 with no issues.....certainly nothing like you're experiencing so my guess it's not modem limitations. I would recommend running a Packer Loss Test that you can easily google and should tell you the average jitter. Once you know the results then troubleshooting can be easier.....

Here is my update on going from hh3000 to hh4000.
The install was a no brainer, just follow your nose and it does everything itself. However, i wanted to break out the 2.4 and 5Mhz frequencies and add select devices on each. This you have to do manually. Bell advised against it, but i know from experience better.
The speed test was excellent as long as i am connected by ethernet cable to hh4000. I got 540mbs. However that is useless for me, as i can only get 86mbs when wired to my asus intel i5 laptop. That's not great, since i have a 500mbs service. Wireless speeds in same room as hh4000 were around 36 to 56mbs upload/ download. Not great.
On advice of Bell Tec, i used auto Channel select for both 2.4 and 5mhz. The analysis revealed not so good or cleaver hh4000. I found channel 6 and 11 has far top many connected devices and throughput was poor, but adequate. Not worth the money really.
I could later manually select and assign Channel# to each 2.4 or 5mhz to see if improvement. Note, my street has very close houses so scan picks up lots of neighbours and hence channels 6 and 11 choked with other users in street. Hh4000 is not that smart at selecting best channels. The speeds in all 2300sqft home rooms was adequate, and one room that previously had poor reception,, now was adequately serviced. The whole house does not need pods of any kind.
The devices i have are all 3+ years old, so i am never going to see any speed improvements above 86mbs wireless. Cat5e also does only pickup about 150mbs at max. So my 500mbs service is overkill. Having said that, my reason to upgrade was so my voip Ooma phone linked directly to hh4000 does not drop calls. The Jitter in fibre lines to home was 8 to 12 and now its 2, so that should hopefully improve my quality of phone calls. Jitter is a measure of the quality of the single in the line feed to modem. BELL will not address jitter issues, only upload download speeds. Not good for phones.
My conclusion is for average home owners its ok in that you don't need repeaters pods wifi extenders anymore in 2200sqft home. I don't for me see the advantage of upgrading if i was going to link another wireless router to it. Most people are just wasting their money in domestic homes. How many devices can you connect to hh3000 vs 4000? Bell tec could not answer that. As a matter of fact, even he did not have any specs of technical details on hh4000 other than how to set it up. However, i am told it will handle more devices than hh3000. The one feature it does not have is, i have many devices on guest, but i cannot assign the devices to 2.4 or 5mhz manually. Only under regular 2.4 or 5mhz ssid can i assign to select frequency. Not a big deal as the router can handle the load
I have in all about 20 devices wirelessly connected, and 2 wired.
Radiation given off by hh4000? This i am wondering if its going to be a problem. I would not put this modem in my babies room, to avoid radiation. The stronger the wifi single, the more radiation emitted. The white box hh4000 is a eye sore amongst all the black speakers and devices. The hh4000 does not have battery backup, but then the 3000 battery only lasted 15 minutes max when battery is brand new. As long as you don't have your heart pace maker hooked up to it, you should be ok. The Bell Admin phone App is still the same in look and feel. No additional features.

Hi, what cameras are you using? I want to buy wifi cameras but not sure if 500mbs wifi will handle it.
My Bell 4000 is far from the front door and running wires is a problem.
Any suggestions welcome.
