Relocate my modem to a different room

Hi,

I have a home 3000 modem. There is a gray wire, that connects to a phone connection box in the wall. What kind of cable is it? I need a longer one to reposition my modem.

Thanks!

Good Day.

If you wish to have your equipment moved, you would need to contact Bell Customer Service & arrange for a technician to visit & assess whether your modem can be relocated from upstairs to downstairs. Is there a specific reason for you wanting to move your equipment & services? Would this be an address change such as upper apartment to main floor address change? Are you experiencing equipment or poor signal issues?

I have included the following web link that will explain Bell's current one time charges. Please refer to the Residential services section > Service fees for the approximate fees.

What are Bell's current one-time fees?

Please call: 1 866 310-BELL (2355) or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

Thank you contacting the Bell Community Forum.

Take care.

Thanks for info.  When the technician installed the modem he installed it near my pc in the study.  At the time I didn't know any better.  Its just our phone / answering machine is in the study so if you don't go into the study you don't know whether we receive a phone call.  A more more central location for the phone/answering machine  would be better.   Our TV's , PC's an phone are on a LAN so location of the modem I don't think would matter.  Thanks for quick response.

Hey, was wondering, if I call, can they send a tech to extend my fiber with their service coil or am I better off with a simple fiber extender cable since its only for a short distance (3 - 4m) I shouldn't lose much of db

Good Day.

Thank you for posting your question. In order to provide further assistance, can you please elaborate on what you mean by: "extend my fiber with their service coil" ?

  1. Has Bell already connected your home to fibre?
  2. Are you wishing to extend the fibre to your modem?
  3. Are you looking to relocate your modem to another location?

In any case, to extend the fibre, you will need to contact Bell & arrange for a technician visit if you are wishing to extend or relocate your fibre cable. The technician will assess the situation & decide on what is best to meet your needs.

You can contact Bell technical support & arrange to have a technician visit to make this change for you. There may be a service charge involved in completing this work. When you contact Bell, they will provide an approximate cost to complete this work for you. Please call: 1 866 797-8686

I have included a list of Bell's one-time fees for your reference: Bell's current one-time fees

Take care.

Thank you for answering! I think I'll stick to a 10$ fiber extension cable instead of a 75$ fee for a relocation haha
