How do I stop simpatico from continually downloading old emails. Every day it downloads over 1,000 old messages . If I don't delete them each day they accumulate until there is no memory and simpatico shuts down

Hi @Fraserwood
If you're using older software email clients like Windows Live Mail to get your Sympatico email, you need to make sure the setting for the email server is set to IMAP, not POP. POP email servers will push out old emails when you log in, and they will be stored on your local device (like a computer's drive). IMAP always stores email on its server and not on your computer.
So have a look at your email settings. There is help on how to do this: Trouble-shooting Bell Email, here
Here's a screenshot of Bell's email server settings. For incoming mail, use the IMAP settings. Hope this helps.

Please provide more details. How are you accessing you emails? Web mail? App? Software program?
What device are you using? Computer, Tablet, mobile phone? What is your operation system? Windows, Apple, IOS, Android, etc.
Are you accessing mail using a browser? Which one & version of the browser?
Is the software & apps up to date in the device you are using? Have you rebooted your device? Cleared cache & cookies?
When finished with an email are you saving it on the server or moving it or deleting it or accessing it from another application or device?
How long have you had this problem? If using a computer, have you run a virus check for issues recently? If not, you need to do so.
We are here to help. Please keep us posted
