Incoming call number blocked. Goes straight to voicemail.

Suddenly calls coming from my mother appear to be blocked. Whenever she calls now it goes directly to voicemail. I get the voicemail, but do not receive the call. I have checked my blocked number list and ensured that her number is not listed as blocked, however the call shows up as blocked in recent calls. Looking for some kind of solution to this problem. If anyone else has similar issue please let me know.

Which mobile device are you using? Make & model?

  1. Have you verified that your device is up to date with the most current iOS / OS ?
  2. Apps up to date?
  3. Have you completed a hard reboot recently on your phone? Full power off?

If after completing my earlier suggestions & you are still experiencing the same problem check the following:

  1. Has your mother changed her Caller ID setting on her phone? Show My Caller ID: On or Off
  2. Check your mobile device settings. Phone > Silence unknown callers > Is this option on or off?
  3. Call Blocking & Identification?
  4. Blocked contacts?
  5. Have you checked your Focus settings? E.g. Do Not Disturb Feature, etc.
  6. Have you removed your mother from your contact list?

I contacted Bell support and was told the problem was with Bell and the whole region is affected.

Hi there, @Bryan3. Welcome to the Bell Community, and thanks for your post.

We wanted to check in and see if you were still experiencing the issue as you had described? If so, have you taken the time to follow up with support for more info?

If it's still ongoing and you have spoken with Support again, please share an update with the Community so anyone else who may be impacted can be up to date. 🙂

Looking forward to hearing back from you.

I have reported the issue to Bell support. It seems to only be happening with one landline number. I have opened a ticket and am waiting to see if the problem is resolved.

Most my calls are going directly to voicemail and don’t know why. I have nobody in the blocked list. Have done a factory reset. Call forwarding isn’t on.

Have look at or adjusted any of your device settings recently?

If your phone is off, on Airplane or Flight mode, Do Not Disturb mode, or when you're outside of coverage (i.e. no service), calls will automatically be forwarded to voicemail.

Is your device up to date in terms of iOS / OS? Are all of your apps current?

Have you rebooted your device by completing a full power off recently?

If you require any further assistance, please do no hesitate to reach out once again.

Take care.

It’s a flip phone. I have done a factory reset and it’s still the same

What is the make & model of your device? Did you purchase this from Bell?  Are these calls going to voicemail when you are in a coverage area or when you are outside of a coverage area? Have you contacted Bell Mobility?

Take care.

Sonim XM. I can’t remember if it was purchased from Bell. It doesn’t matter what area it’s in. Good coverage or no coverage.  Haven’t contacted Bell yet. Was trying this forum first.

How to stop incoming phone calls going straight to voicemail

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Message Centre is included in most rate plans. If you wish to remove it permanently, you will need to contact Bell Customer in order to have it disabled. Call: 1 800 667-0123 or dial *611 from any Bell mobile device.

You can set the number of rings before Message Centre picks up a call. To choose how long your phone rings before a caller will go to your voicemail:

  1. On the dial pad of your mobile phone, enter the following:
    • * 61 * 647 383 2355 * 11 * time #
    • Time: the number of seconds (5, 10, 15, 20, 25 or 30) before the call transfers to voicemail.
  2. Press the call button.
  3. A status message will be displayed on the screen.

Example: for 20 seconds of ring time, enter *61*6473832355*11*20# and press the call button.

Different types of phones have different standard ring lengths and customizable settings. If you enter a number of rings less than two or more than nine, the system will automatically abort the change and default to the previous setting. For example: Silence unknown callers will send callers to voicemail automaticly; blocked callers; etc.

You shoud familiarize yourself with your device phone settings before deciding on how you wish to proceed.

I’m having the same issue: all calls from my sister’s long-term care home go straight to voicemail. Then we play phone tag all day because they’re on another call and they can’t reach me back when I leave a message.

Using an iPhone 12. This has been happening for at least six months. Nothing else changed. I’ve checked all the items in your list. The number isn’t in my blocked list; ditto no block on number in Contacts. Help?
