Service issues in Bowmanville, ON

I show 5G service in Bowmanville.   Whenever I’m in Bowmanville my service is sketchy.   One minute I can use the internet/call. The next my service drops.    It happens all the time.  It started after the derecho that went through the area last year.  It is very frustrating

Hey there @Talkafan ,

Welcome to the Community and thanks for your post.

Signal strength can be affected by many different factors, such as topography, line of sight to towers, amount of users on the network, etc.

For the Community to be able to assist, more details will be needed;

  • Is the issue only happening indoors, outdoors or both?
  • When did you notice the issue started?
  • What troubleshooting steps have you done so far?
  • Is your phone updated to it's latest OS/IOS version?
  • Which network is selected in your network settings?
  • Have you contacted our technical support team to verify your concern and open a ticket if needed?

Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thank you for your concern. There are many factors involved in cellular service, including physical geography, signal strength, network load, buildings ant other built environment issues. Bell manages their network with sophisticated network management systems and software. Unfortunately changes are incredibly complex and include multiple levels of government, legal and zoning issues, signal engineering and approvals, procurement of equipment and integration into the network. The process is not quick and can take months if not a couple of years. I am personally very familiar with the community you refer to. One of the biggest factors there is a massive growth in population. That strains all services, including telecommunications. As this is a peer to peer forum, we have no access to Bell’s plans for expanded services, but Bell does monitor their network.

I have the issue indoors and outdoors.   It started about a year ago and it’s all over Bowmanville ON

my phone works fine pretty much everywhere else

my iPhone 14 is running iOS 16.5.1 (c)

it happened on my old iPhone SE2 and is occurring now.

my friend is on Telus what uses the same network and has issues in the same town in all the same area I do

Hi this is my second phone to have this issue so I’m not sure the issue is my phone

I have restarted and made sure my phone is on BELL as my network

it happens all over Bowmanville.  And I can use my phone and it goes out as fast as I can use it.

I can’t find where I’m supposed to contact tech support because this site and everything refers me here 😡

Thank you for the additional details, @Talkafan. We'll be reaching out in a private message to collect further info.

Same here... I live in oshawa and the service is good at best... but I work in bowmanville and the service goes from 5g to zero or no internet/data and full service bars to H where I don't even get any reception and no calls coming in... a lot of times it's at elephant hill park area.. dead zone ... new s22 too.. bell tech with trouble shooting said nothing they can do

This issue is not isolated, both my wife and I have different cell phones (pixel and iPhone) and we experience dead zones outdoors in Bowmanville, particularly in our main shopping areas (Walmart, Home Depot, Loblaws, Canadian tire) as well as at our home. If it wasn't for wifi availability in some stores, I would be unable to use mobile services. As a resident of Bowmanville this is quite frustrating. I have spoken to numerous people complaining of this. There have been posts on the Bowmanville Community group, there is even a petition in Change.org trying to get some traction on this. I'm not sure this is the right forum to push this to Bell management to look at service upgrades in the area but it's somewhere I can voice my concern and support the original post.

Hi

I have stumbled upon this group chat and would like to add my name to the connectivity concerns.

I have lived in the north east area of Bowmanville, near John M James Public School, for the last 22 years. In the last two to 3 years the service quality has faded dramatically. I have had instances with calls dropping and fading both inside and outside at my house. I have had to step out on my front porch or back deck several times over the winter to try and keep a call connected.

I'm have been using a Galaxy S23 phone for the last roughly 18 months and a Galaxy S7 before that and have had connection issues with both phones.

At one time there was a Bell Mobilty site tower on the old sheep farm on the north side of Concession 3 at Mearns Ave but when searching online I don't see that tower anymore. I am not sure if that is still an active site for Bell Mobility. If that site was deactivated, that could be why my signal has deteriorated.

Any assistance with these quality issues would be appreciated.

Thanks

All you moderators were involved back in 2023. It's been over a year and everyone in Bowmanville is begging for you guys to do something. I'm going to open a Reddit thread on this too. You guys need to deliver the service you promise. How does Bowmanville's service get worse than it has been in decades? Please escalate this issue we're all experiencing

Adding my name to the hat here, we’re sitting in the Bowmanville Mcdonalds on highway to and my data connection completely dropped out. We have to use the wifi here.
