Good Day & Welcome to the bell Community Forum.
I am not quite sure I fully understand your question? "Why is Bell not using the 548 area code"
Area code 548 is in use. It was put into service on June 4, 2016.
It is an overlay area code in Southwestern Ontario, serving major cities like London, Windsor, and Kitchener-Waterloo, as well as many other smaller communities in this part of the province.
It works alongside area codes 519, 226, and 382, providing an increased number of phone lines for the growing population.
Area code 382 was added as the fourth area code to serve the expanding need for numbers in Southwestern Ontario on June 17, 2023.
Take care
