That is a decision you need to make. I trust you own it, & it is in excellent working order & you have had SPC insurance from the beginning. You can continue using it with or without SPC insurance. If you are considering an upgrade in device, Apple will evaluate your iPhone 8 & if it is in perfect shape & working order they will exchange it for their Gift Card Trade in program. Apple values the iPhone 8 64gb at $65.00. You can check this out on the Apple Canada web site.

New devices come with a limited 12-month warranty for manufacturer’s defects and malfunctions.

Smart/Phone Care plans give you additional coverage. You don’t have to pay the full replacement value of your device, which can be up to $3,000.

Smart/Phone Care plans also cover:

  1. Manufacturer’s defects beyond 12 month
  2. Physical damage/Power surge
  3. Liquid damage
  4. Loss/Theft
  5. Normal wear and tear
  6. Deductible (Amount maximum is dependant on plan & device.)
  7. Number of replacement  - 2

Here is a web link that will explain everything to you.

The best time to enroll in a Smart/Phone Care plan is at time of activation or upgrade. You can also enroll within 30 days of activation or upgrade by visiting any Bell store for a visual inspection of your device. Previously damaged or defective units are not eligible for the program.

Take care.

How do I know if I have coverage on damaged mobile

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

Did you purchase your device from Bell? All Bell mobile phones and smartphones are covered by a limited manufacturer's warranty for at least one year from the date of purchase. It does not cover physical damages caused by the user. This information would be included with your device at the time of purchase.

Did you purchase Bell Smart/Phone Care enhanced warranty plan? If so you should reference your mobility agreeement & the following web page that I have included.

I contacted customer service in October 2024 because my Google Pixel 7 Pro phone developed a screen flickering problem and had also turned fully black.   I was sent a replacement phone thinking that it was new but it was refurbished.  This refurbished phone now has the same problem only 2 months later.

Why am I paying $299 for a refurbished phone when I thought it was new?   How is it that this phone develops the same problem in 2 months?  Maybe this used phone previously had this problem too?

I feel deceived and honestly do not want to pay another $300 for a used phone that may just have the same problem.   It was a hassle to setup this "new" used phone.

What are my options?

Good Day.

Thank you for contacting the Bell Community Forum. This is a peer-to-peer website. We are limited in what assistance we can provide to you. We do not have access to your account or Smart/Phone Care plan.

The Smart/Phone Care Plan is administered by the Asurion replacement centre. If need be, you can contact Asurion at 1 866 213-2143 from 7 a.m. to midnight (ET), seven days a week (closed on statutory holidays) to discuss the replacement device.

If you would like to request another replacement under your Smart/Phone Care plan, you can do so online. The Smart/Phone Care plan goal is to give you the same make and model that you purchased. Claims submitted may be fulfilled with like-new equipment of the same or comparable model. There is no guarantee that the replacement product will be new & have the exact colour or feature and accessory compatibility.

Your replacement device will come with instructions on activating the device, backing up and transferring your personal information (if possible) and returning the damaged or defective device using the prepaid return shipping label. The damaged device will not be returned to you.

I have included a copy of the plan as a reference for you.

Hello,

I paid for insurance on a Galaxy phone at $20 a month for 4 years through Bell. (4 x 20 = $960)

The phone finally had an accident and cracked the screen and when I applied for Asurion insurance they offered to get me a phone for $399 (not including taxes) as the replacement cost. Meanwhile the full cost of a new similar phone was $389 (not including taxes) via Best Buy.  Not worth it.  I will update this if Asurion and Bell make this right.

Knowing what I know now I would say not worth it past the first few months. Bell needs to fix this as I am getting no where with Asurion. I have sent them screen shots of the replacement "offer" and the price of the phone at Best Buy.

I feel scammed.

Marilyn.

Thanks for your question. I can only make a limited response as this is a user to user forum and has no access to account or billing matters. You don't say the type and age of your phone. I suggest you read the policy document, including the fine print, to determine if the phone is covered for the specific damage you are claiming and what the options for repair or replacement are offered. Insurance policies are often very specific and not universal.
