Transfer sympatico address book to microsoft 365

Hello,

I would like to export a copy of my Sympatico address book (including all groups that I created) to Microsoft 365. I feel like I've looked all over but can't find a simple 'how to' about this. Yup, freakin' out a little...

Good Day.

If Office 365 is installed on the same PC that Outlook 2010 is installed on there is nothing to transfer. If you start Outlook 365, all data will be as before. You would need to uninstall Outlook 2010.

If this is not the case, you would need to export to a file & import the file to Outlook 365

Exporting Contacts Outlook 2010

  1. Open Outlook.
  2. Click File | Open & Export | Import/Export.
  3. In the new window that pops up, select “Export to a file” and press the “Next” button.
  4. Ensure “Comma Separated Values” is selected and press the “Next” button.
  5. Select the location from where you want to export your contacts and click the “Next” button.
  6. Where it says “Save exported file as:”, change the name of the file if needed and then click the “Browse” button and choose where you would like to save the file.
  7. Click “Next” and then “Finish”.
  8. Your contacts will be exported to a .csv file where you chose to save it. This file will be used when importing your contacts into your other account.
  9. If you chose “Outlook Data File (.pst)” then the extension will be .pst

Importing Contacts  Microsoft 365

  1. Open Outlook 
  2. Click File | Open & Export | Import/Export.
  3. In the new window that pops up, select “Import from another program or file” and press the “Next” button.
  4. If the file that you are importing has the extension .csv then select the “Comma Separated Values” option then click the “Next” button.
  5. If the file you have has the extension .pst then select the “Outlook Data File (.pst)” option.
  6. Click the “Browse” button and choose the file that contains your contacts.
  7. Choose whether you want to allow, replace, or not import duplicate items and hit the “Next” button. (Replacing duplicates means that if you import a contact already in your contact list, then the contact already in your list will be replaced with the contact that’s being imported.)
  8. Choose where you want to save the contacts to. In most cases you’ll just want to choose the item that says contacts under your email.
  9. Click “Next” and then click “Finish”. The new contacts will now be in your contact list.

Good Day.

To Import or Export your contacts, login to to your webmail.  Select > Contacts. Select > Address book. Select > All of the Contacts in your Address book or selectively choose the contacts you wish to either Send as a vCard, or  Import & Export. Select > More. Select > Send as a vCard or Import & Export as a file. Follow the on screen prompts to either import a file or export a file to or from your computer. You can only import or export to a vCard VCF fle type or a CSV file type.

I realize now that I didn't ask the right question, though perhaps the answer is in there. (hmmm... I'm not as savvy as I hoped... )

I am FINALLY upgrading to a better computer. It's not my webmail addresses I desperately need to transfer, but the ones on my desktop. I am embarrassingly using Microsoft office professional 2010+ (which is no longer working- as is written somewhere on line that Sympatico needs Mic. Office 2013). I love the layout but accept that have to change that. I will have Microsoft 365. But how do I get that very necessary address book with all the groups onto my new computer? 

Oh dear, freakin' out a little more...

You can use whatever MS Office program you wish as long as it is later than Outlook 2013. There are also free e-mail clients you can use. 
Office 365 is what Microsoft wants us to use, because it provides a convenient flow of money from us to them. At the same tine the standalone version of Office is still available and is, in the long run, cheaper, unless you require multiple copies. You also have greater control over your data and information with the standalone version. Personally, I refuse to use Office 365. But I also dislike the Office suite generally.
