Note: you must be logged in to your Google account to download and install new apps.
Installing an app
- Press the Apps button on your remote.
- Under Apps & games, select Google Play Store.
- Browse the Play Store for an app to install and select Install.
- Wait for the app to finish downloading and installing.
- Press the Apps button on your remote.
- Locate and select the newly installed app to launch it.
Updating an app
- Press the Apps button on your remote.
- Under Apps & games, select Google Play Store.
- Select your account from the top right navigation bar.
- Scroll to Manage apps and games. If any of your downloaded apps require updating, you will see a section called Updates. Press OK on this section.
- Select Update all to update all apps.
Removing an app
- Press the Home button on your remote and select Settings.
- Select Apps.
- Select See all apps to view the list of apps downloaded on your device.
- Choose the app you’d like to remove and select Uninstall.
To access your apps:
- Press the Home button on your Fibe TV Voice Remote and select Apps. Or
- Press the Apps button on your remote. Or
- Press the Google Assistant button on your remote and say the name of the app you want to launch.

I could not get very far, there's no Google Play Store available to do anything.

The reason why you are not able to get to the PlayStore is because the VIP5662 does not have this ability. This thread and the referenced receiver is for our VIP7802 (Fibe TV box).
