Do I get to keep my streamer after terminating services?

I was subscribed to the Bell TV App package with Fibe Internet 100 from Jan to mid-August (~8 months). When I initially called bell to sign up for the Bell TV app subscription, I was told by the phone rep that the Streamer will be mine to keep at no extra charge.

If I were to keep the streamer, will I get charged unreturned equipment fees?

Note that at no point was there any mention of the Bell Streamer on any of my monthly bills.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell Community Forum.

You do not need to return the Bell Streamer. It was a gift from Bell to you. You will not be billed an unreturned equipment fee.

Take care.

Hi there,

Upon calling customer support, I was told that Bell Streamer is one of the things I would need to return along with the HH3000 and the wifi pod.

Is there any documentation I can look up on Bell's website regarding this? I have tried looking at my agreement details and my bills, the only sign I really have that I was sent one was the order confirmation that the streamer was on its way. Even that email didn't mention anything regarding returning the equipment upon cancellation.

This leads me to believe that I shouldn't be charged for unreturned equipment, but the bell support is telling me otherwise. A source for your answer would be much appreciated so I can point them in that direction during my next call.

Thanks!

Good Day.

The Bell Community is a place for you to ask questions, find answers and share your thoughts. This is a true peer-to-peer community space; as such, we do not have access to your account & billing details & records.

Let's start over.  Why did you not mention in your earlier question that you were cancelling all of your services? Internet, Fibe TV app, etc.  Your only question was related to returning the Bell Streamer.  You also made no mentioned that you had contacted Bell Customer Service & that you were told that the Streamer must be returned with all of the remaining equipment. Why is that?

It appears that you are trying to find a loophole or some way to keep the Bell Streamer. E.g. agreement, etc.; even though you will not be able to use it & were advised to return it.

Who am I to tell you something contrary to what you have already been told to do by Bell? We are all members trying to help other members out. It starts with being up front when you are looking for answers to questions & solutions to problems.

Please have a look at the following & you can decide for yourself what you need to return.

Rental equipment could include any of the following:

  • Modems
  • Wi-Fi pods
  • TV receivers
  • Accessories such as remote controls, cables and power supply adapters, etc.

How do equipment returns and refunds work? : Return policy for Bell customers

Take care.

Hi there,

My apologies, I should have reworded my original question. In my mind I thought it was clear that I cancelled my services by saying that I ‘was subscribed’ in the past tense and including the period I was subscribed for.

I haven’t called when I initially posted the question since support was closed at the time (past midnight as you’ll notice with the timing of the posting) and wanted to save on waiting for hours on hold in the morning. I ended up calling to confirm anyway after seeing your response as I didn’t want to get billed with unreturned equipment. It was not my intention to find loopholes with regards to keeping the streamer.

With that out of the way however - yes, if I am allowed to keep the streamer, why go through the trouble of sending that back as well? It’s a great device that isn’t locked to Bell TV and has other use cases. I doubt Bell would redistribute the device to other customers as well and would end up becoming e-waste in the end. It’s not equipment that had much residual value and would probably cost Bell more on shipping and disposal fees.

With that in consideration and in addition to not being part of the rental in the bill (no rental fees minus a credit to make it $0), or it showing up on any of the service agreement, I was under the impression that I would be allowed to keep the device.

I appreciate your help by providing the links. I will be returning the device anyway as they have mentioned.

Thanks again,

Good Evening.

@Wuhduhwuh  No harm done. No need to apologize. As I mentioned to you earlier, "You do not need to return the Bell Streamer. It was a gift from Bell to you. You will not be billed an unreturned equipment fee."

Hi,

Joining late to this conversation!

I need some clarification regarding return of bell streamer.

I talked to the customer care about returning the equipment after cancelling the Fibe TV service and they asked me to return it. The link they provided me to get the return label was not accepting my account ID. I contacted customer care again and was given a link to Canada Post. Canada Post started the strike next day and I didn't want to risk billed for no return. So I went to a Bell store and the guy told me that he saw nobody returning the item. After coming home I checked my email for the contract email and found the following:

"Bell Streamer with the Fibe TV app subscription. Early cancellation charge: $79.95 value ÷ 6 months x number of months left in 6-month term. Limit 1 per customer. Term starts on activation. Standard shipping times apply."

Does that not mean that I had a 6 months contract to buy the equipment and it should be mine after 6 months?

Thanks in advance for your help!!

Good Day.

The Bell Streamer does not need to be returned. You will not be billed an "unreturned equipment fee" for not returning the Bell Streamer.
