Fibe TV Box keeps connecting to Pod instead of Gigahub

I've got a Fibe TV Box (7802 - the Android boxes) in my living room that is literally 1 meter away from the Gigahub. It's literally the closest wireless device in my house to the Gigahub. When I install the box and connect it via WPS, everything works fine. However, after about a day, sometimes 12 hours, it will ALWAYS connect to my Pod instead.

The baffling thing is my pod is about 15 meters away from the Fibe TV Box. It makes no sense that the TV box doesn't stay connected to the Gigahub. I have 2 other Fibe TV boxes in the house so I swapping them to the living room to see if I had a faulty box, but they all have the same issue. They DO NOT do this from the bedroom or basement.

I know you will all say use ethernet, but that's just not an option I want to pursue in the living room. It would ruin the look of my 83" OLED against a marble backdrop with zero wires showing.

I've even tried moving that POD to different points of the house, and the same thing keeps repeating. It bothers me because the connection to the Pod is weaker than the connection to the Gigahub which is literally right beside it. It always happens after 12-36 hours, never right away after I install the TV box.

Can anyone tell me why this keeps happening and is there a way to prevent this Living Room box from automatically switching to the pod? I want it locked onto the Gigahub.

I've called bell half a dozen times, talked to Level 2 tech, and they all suggest the same generic solutions that don't work (factory reset, test a different box, move the pod to a different place, etc).

Thank you!

Hi @AlexN9877
Thank you for your post and welcome to the Community.
Devices aren't able to be assigned to either the modem or the pod, as the device will connect to whatever it believes has the best connection. You mentioned your modem is close to the receiver, which it's possible it's to close. If possible, try moving your modem & receiver further away from each other. Alternative to that, using an ethernet connection would be the best recommendation.

Thanks for your question. The pods use an internal algorithm to find your devices and provide the strongest signal possible at all times. The pod algorithm reassesses signal strength regularly and can follow your devices as you move around the house. To the best of my knowledge, users can't force or lock a device to use a specific signal source such as a specific pod or the Giga Hub if pods are being used.

I had the same problem 6 months ago. Contacted support multiple times and level 2 and they said probably off script the same as you got.
I tried to tell them that the Fibe boxes connected to a different frequency on the router, but they didn’t even know anything about that.
What you need to do is go into settings, then device settings, then network and internet then find a network called “Fibe tv” with various letters and numbers.
Then connect to that.
Customer support will only give you the runabout off script. They don’t even know about the separate Fibe tv network.

Thanks for your comment. The pods will carry the “hidden” frequencies for Fibe TV I believe, so the user’s issues isn’t necessarily solved. But your suggestion is worth trying.

Thanks Nick! I never heard of being "too close" to the gigahub causing issues (thought it was only too far). I'll try to move fibe receiver further away thanks!

By the way I noticed a hidden WiFi channel for each Fibe TV receiver called "five TV something". I can't access it cause without the password (tried my own network password didn't work). Can you provide the default password for these hidden WiFi channels?

Hi @AlexN9877
Yes, it is possible for a device to either be to close or to far away from the modem.
The 'hidden' Wi-Fi channel is called 'Fibe TV network' which only the receivers can connect to, although it is not accessible on all receivers (depending on the receiver firmware version). If you're able to connect to it, the password should be the same as your main Wi-Fi SSID password.

Thank you Nick.

I got a new android box today and this version allows me to connect to the hidden five TV network. If I'm connected to that hidden network instead of my home WiFi, then does that mean the android box will be directly connected to the gigahub all the time and never switch to the pod?

Once the receiver is using the "hidden" network, I can no longer see the device in my WiFi App so I can't tell if it's connected to gigahub or pod.

Thank you!

Hi there @AlexN9877
When connected to the hidden Fibe TV Network, the receivers will eventually automatically switch over to your normal Wi-Fi SSID. Although, we'd like to take a closer look into this and have sent you a private message.
