Thank you for your quick reply. This could be a connection on the circuit board, fan or even the hard drive.

Good Day & Welcome to the Bell community Forum.

When you mention noise, can you describe the noise sound? Whirring? Rattle? Loose part? Grinding? Crackling? etc. How loud is this noise?

Have you checked the exterior for a loose screw or cable connector? Do you hear this sound all of the time? E.g. while watching TV, only when viewing a recording, recording a program, etc. Have you tried to unplug your receiver? Do you hear this noise when the receiver is not in operation?

If the issue persists & you cannot determine the location for the noise, please call Bell Satellite TV tech support at: 1 888 759-3474.

Take care.

Whinny sound like the fan is going, doesn’t need to be powered up just plugged in and it will happen. Not constantly but it will go for hours, with or without using the tv. Tried unplugging, resetting, no luck. Thanks

you can get a preplacement fan on Amazon for about $15.00.

Takes about 20 minutes to remove old one and install new one.  I've had to do it on 2 of my 9242's.

If you don't fix it you will eventually get receiver shutdown on overheating after several minutes of operation.
