Problem with HMDI through JBL soundbar with Samsung 6 series 4k TV ARC

Hello,

I have a Bell VIP 2262 STB going to a Samsung MU6300 4K UHD TV. I used to have a Basic 2.1 Samsung soundbar which I recently upgraded to a JBL Bar 5.1. Since changing soundbars, I can't turn on the TV and STB and get the Fibe TV to display on the TV.

My STP is plugged to the HDMI Input of the JBL soundbar, and the TV is plugged in the ARC HDMI Output of the soundbar to the ARC HDMI source on the TV.

I'm having problems turning on the Fibe TV almost every time I turn on the TV, I get either a quick flash screen from the STB saying it can't connect HDMI, or either a complete blue screen with a lock on the lower right, or most of the time my TV stays stuck saying the HDMI source is not connected.

I have tried both turning everything on with the Fibe remote, and with the Samsung remote, but I rarely get success (Maybe once every 10 times).

I noticed that my Soundbar needs to switch from TV Source (which is what is used when I watch Netflix or Crave through the TV app) to HDMI Source when I switch to Fibe TV. There seems to be an incorrect initialization order going, where the STB does not establish the secure HDMI connection to the TV through the JBL correctly most of the time, maybe related to the ARC.

When this happens, I can sometimes fix the problem by switching sources a few times and coming back to the Bell Hdmi source, but most of the times the STB seems to freeze (can't turn it off anymore), I need to unplug the STB, wait a few seconds and plug it back in. Then it works correctly after the Fibe boot up screen.

Any help for this setup for being able to turn on both the tv, the soundbar and the STB correctly with one remote, and having HDMI signal would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hey there @Max3. Welcome to the Bell Community 🙂

We wanted to jump in to suggest a modification in your current set-up. We recommend that your Arc be plugged in between your TV set and the soundbar, then everything else (including your STB) should be plugged directly into your TV set.

Please test that out, and let the Community know how everything goes.

Are you using the new cable?

Hi Patricia,

Thanks for your help,

I switched to your recommended configuration and the problem has now been resolved for me for turning everything on and off with one remote. For information, the Soundbar manual recommended it the way I had set it up.

Unfortunately I now have a very slight sound delay with the image. I have tried playing with the sound delay setup on my TV but it didn't seem to change anything. Any ideas on that one?

Thanks,

Max

Hi there @Max3
There are a few things we'd recommend trying out.

  1. Try rebooting your receiver.
  2. Try changing your sound settings from surround to stereo.
  3. Turn your TV volume down and the Soundbar volume up.

Please note that if you unplug your Soundbar and you notice that there is no delay in sound between the receiver / TV connection, then that would be a delay between your television set and your Soundbar which you would need to consult with the manufactures of those products.
Hope this helps and Community is here if you have any further questions.
