Sony Bravia Tv xbr55x800E Problem turning tv on with slim remote

When trying to turn my Sony Bravia tv on with the slim remote it turn  the tv partly on   the lights on the bottom of the tv goes on and then the tv turn off     We wait a couple of seconds  and the turn the tv on again with the slim remote it turn the tv on but it goes into the the reboot mode with all the circle  and the screen goes black and if we wait another couple of second then the screen saver come on

Called customer support more than once for this problem    They  sent a new receiver same problem    Called again they sent a new remote same problem.     I try resetting the tv to factory default to see if it would solve the problem   It did of half a day.

If I use the tv remoter to turn it on and the off and the use the bell slim remote it sometimes turn it on with having to wait for the tv to reboot    Very annoying

We have had the fibe tv for close to one year,   the first six months all was ok it worked fine.    The last six months have been quite frustrating.

I was wondering did Bell do an upgrade on the firmware of the receiver that would have cause this problem.

It seems that when I turn the tv on it wants to start but something is not letting it do a proper start up.

Have anyone else have had this problem.    Any help would be appreciate

Called Sony one more time.  Was connected to a very knowledgeable person.   Since the other tv we have are not Sony it us logical that there is a setting in the Sony that is probably the problem.   He was able to use an app to have access to my tv.   He went under setting.  Watch tv selected external and he change a setting in that section.   Since then all is is finally working the way it should.     I am very grateful for his expertise that solve this very annoying problem.

Hi there @selwor,

Welcome to the Bell Community, and thank you for reaching out.

Can you clarify if you have the Slim remote or a Bluetooth Slim remote?

You mention that a factory reset of your TV temporarily resolved this. Did you modify any of the TV settings just before the issue started back up again?

We recommend that you ensure there a clear line of sight with no obstructions between the remote and your TV set. Also, check the battery level in your remote, and replace the batteries as needed. When the battery level is low it may cause the remote to work improperly. To test, press and hold the Mute button for 3 seconds. If the LED flashes red or no light flashes, the batteries are not functioning.

If you continue to have trouble you can try a factory reset of your remote as well. On your remote, press and hold the Options button for 3 seconds, until the green light flashes twice. Within 10 seconds of the light flashing, enter 0000 > Press Select >The green light will then blink twice to confirm the commands are successful.

Let the Community know if you need any more help,

The remote is Bluetooth.    Doing a factory reset on the tv.  Did not modify any setting.  While doing the factory reset.

Battery on remote are good.     Factory reset on remote did not solve the problem

I called Sony and they  got me to verify if we have the latest update on it which is.   They got me to unplug the tv and wait for a minute before replacing the plug in the outlet.   Was able to use the remote without having problems.  I mention that I had done this before and it did not solve.   It work for 2 times and I am back to square one

very frustrated as I have spent many hours either with Bell and again with Sony and it is still not working

Thank you for your reply @selwor

Are you able to test the remote with any other TV set in your home? Do you have any other active Bluetooth devices in the same room where you are having this trouble?

Do you ever get an error message when you try to pair your remote following the steps below?

  • Check for a blue light on the front of your 4K Whole Home PVR to confirm that the remote is paired with it.
  • On your Bluetooth Slim remote, press Menu, and then select Settings.
  • Scroll to Remote control and select Remote setup.
  • Select Start setup and follow the instructions on the screen to complete TV programming.
  • Once completed, the Pairing complete screen appears.
  • Test the remote by pressing the mute button: if the TV is muted, select Done.

@BellPatricia

All other tv are working fine.   Blue light on pvr is ok and it is paired     No error message    The only device I have in the same room is my iPad

Good afternoon @selwor 🙂

Is Bluetooth enabled on the iPad? Are your other TVs Sony Bravia as well?

Please try testing the remote from one of your other receivers to see if it works with that TV set.

Keep me posted,

@BellPatricia
